Can anybody please help & reccomend somewhere?

My daughter and her friend are off to NY at the end of April and there are some awful hotel reviews (cockroaches etc!) on the internet,

Fawlty Towers would do so long as its clean

I would prefer to stay around Central Park and dont mind if its a guest house hotel or B&B

Thanks in advance.

if you do stay at the sheraton make sure you join their loyalty scheme - free nights, money off meals etc

when I went (a few years ago) we stayed at the Metropolitan. very nice hotel. But you'd need to shop around for cheap prices there.

make sure wherever you chose is near a subway station - as that's the easiest way to get around - otherwise you'll get sick of adding the extra walk at the start and end of every day.

Just to let you know, people only post the downsides on the review sites. When we went to spain last year our apartment complex was classed as "blackpool in the sun" and "infested with cockroaches, ants and other creepy crawlies"

It was really nice infact, and we saw no yobbos etc.

The only true thing was the mosquitos :w00t:

cant fault the salisbury hotel, near central park, very spacious rooms and a breakfast to die for, we have stopped there twice and would do again

close to all amenities and a subway station on the corner.

Have you considered a youth hostel? I've never stayed in one in NYC but stayed in a few around Europe. Shared accomodation (usually bunk beds), but are usually clean and can be gotten with en-suite bathroom and toilet (so you're only sharing with other folk in your room rather than the whole hostel). You meet some great people too :)

here is a warning for you.... I stayed at Hotel Carter... just on Times Square... DO NOT GO! When we got back we ranted at Lastminute.com and got our money back - the hotel looked lovely... we got there and there was very dirty rooms, bathrooms... broken windows.... and MICE!! Stay Clear of Hotel Carter.... if it still up.

Have fun though - New York is amazing!

Think some1s showing off saying £150 a night for a room in Manhattan is a good deal.

I stayed in something like a travelodge or the equivalent really close to Times Square. Don't think I could of been in a better area.
