well done :-D

Thanks! First time as well, and only got 2 minor faults. Started learning at the end of October last year, so not a bad turnaround. Shame it's taken me until the age of 33 to get around to it, but never mind eh?!

I haven't been out by myself in the car yet - waiting until it's nice and quiet about 8am tomorrow maybe. I'd been driving since 8am, my test was 11:41am (they have stupidly specific times for some reason) and so I was driving for over 4 hours today, I'm exhausted!

WELL DONE! :)

I remember failing my first driving test... I was sooo upset so I sped up from the forecourt on two screeching tires (it was my own car). I probably did 60 or something then. And what was the reason for test failiure? I went seriously below speed limit as I failed to see 50 mph sign and did 30.

awesome work, nothing like a huge achievement to boost the weekend.

no dount you will be hunting down insurance deals now?

for people over 25 who have just passed their test, elephant.co.uk or tesco appear to be the best for fully comp.

however im sure others will try and undercut each other.

have you got a car yet?

oh and keep to the speed limit, the last thing you want is 6 points in the 1st 2 years, it means not only do you lose your licence and become disqualified until you take an extended test which lasts 45 minutes longer, but your insurance will be more than your car will be worth.

have a drink on me anyway, although dont drive after it.

your new car?

Well done!
Im sure you dont need it mentioning, but dont go nuts!
I remember when i passed, i thought id got a speeding tickets, i just went nuts with my freedom :p luckily, i wasnt speeding at all, but it taught me a big lesson :-D

It took me only 8 lessons to learn and pass my driving test.

That was 20 years ago and I'm still learning ;-)

brum - got a car at the end of January, and got my insurance through Elephant, they were easily the cheapest at £500. Even without any Quidco they were the cheapest by a few hundred pounds.

Doing the Pass Plus course in 2 weekends time so that should reduce my renewal next time!

glad to know my advice on insurance was ok.
contact them once you have done your pass pluss and ask for a discount, elephant may give you money back or reduce your premiums.

the only problem will be having to keep to a 1.6 litre car for a couple years until the no claims has built up.
im guessing you went with their 10 months insurance which gives 1 year no claims? a good deal to build up. next year you will be about £130 richer even without haggling. im guessing you went for a car which is group 4 or lower which would be a micra, fiesta, metro, megane type car?

Congrats :) Is something I would love to do

Shouldn't really say well done because all you have done is been given the ability to drive on your own, you learn something new everyday. It's a long time since I took my first test, and it was fun - not. I had a woman push a pram out in front of me, I had a horse jump out in front of me which made me do my emergency stop and the examiner said he would not ask me to do his emergency stop. I had a blo*dy ambulance come towards me on my side of the road and had to pull over to allow him pass and then do the reverse around the corner and the 3 point turn. When we returned to the office he said that he had never been with a new driver that had such bad luck but I handled everything very well. He did have one point that he marked me down for :x he said I drove to close to the central white line, but I told him I was taught to do that in case a person opened their door onto the road when getting out of their car, by driving on the white line I would not pull over right and make the driver coming the other way to swerve, also if a cyclist fell off his bike I should be able to drive on without driving over his head. Funny how things like stick in your head.

Well done so far

well done. I passed my test just this week too.
No more putting up with sour faced examiners (although most of them at my test centre were OK)
