New one due to be released in June, definitely worth waiting as it'll probably be available on better tarrifs.

There are various phones in our household but everyone loves my iphone 3g

With the apps I can control my music on my compuer / hifi (see albums, select tracks, do playlists, use online radio, increase volume and much much more - its brilliant I tell you!)

Also I use my phone for work - make phone calls, sinc microsoft calender etc - its brilliant I tell you!

I also use it to control my computer when using powerpoint. Its shows the current slide, next slide and notes - its brilliant I tell you!

I use it to show in live time my webcams at home for security purpose (i can use it anywhere there is 3g or wi-fi) , the pictures are fantastic - its brilliant I tell you!

I receive and send my emails for work - its brilliant I tell you!

I watch bbc iplayer - great pictures & sound, use it as a video player on my HI-DEF tv, superb - its brilliant I tell you!

I can play games - (have won £11m on Texas Holdem and there are other games.

Brilliant for finding locations or routes on maps, places to eat. - its brilliant I tell you!

I use it to surf the web, look at HotUKdeals, engadget etc. - its brilliant I tell you!

I read books on it and use it for church - access to 20+ bible translations - its brilliant I tell you!

and thats just for starters!!!!!!

Definately get one, I can't do without mine.:gift:

No. There's a new one coming out in a matter of months for a start, plus the iPhone itself is an overmarketed under-featured pile of pants, and not even sexy ladies' pants at that. Can it do MMS messages yet, or Bluetooth file transfer, or even record a video without some external app? It's snazzy to look at somebody else's for a while, but that's about it. Anything you want the iPhone to do can be done better with a Blackberry for either the same cost or cheaper.

So no, basically. Of course, that's just my opinion!

TBH i would call O2 and see what they can offer you.

I have been with Orange exactly 18 month today, upgraded my contract yesterday as they offered me:
1000 any time x network mins
Unlimited text
Unlimited internet
Touch HD (at a highly reduced cost)

all for £19.58 a month.

make sure you CALL them, don't do it in store. When you call select the option that is "if you want to cancel your existing contract or follow up a disconnection request" (or similar) as this will take you through to the retentions department who should offer you a much better deal than you will get anywhere else.

With regards to the iPhone i think its over priced and under featured. But is seen as a benchmark because its Apple, but those are my thoughts. Go into O2 have a look at the different phones and see what suits you. only you can decide if you like something or not :P

Def yes, contract is pricey but with a little jail breaking it can be tethered so is a phone and mobile broadband in one, Which makes it quite reasonable.

Plus unlimited Internet on the go, push email and soon to be MMS if you don't already have SwirlyMMS

Can it do MMS messages yet

yup

Bluetooth file transfer

Yup

or even record a video

Yup

without some external app?

what difference does it make how it happens, it does.

Well, several reasons really, here are the first three I thought of:

-No reason for this functionality not to be included, it's such basic tech nowadays. Five will get you ten that the next iPhone will be unveiled with much fanfare for its MMS capabilities, or some other piddly thing.
-You have to pay for it. Seriously, paying for the ability to bluetooth files like every single other phone less than about ten years old on the market?
-To the best of my knowledge, you have to jailbreak your iPhone to install these apps anyway, so you're voiding your warranty and committing an illegal act into the bargain! Genius!

u can always restore, and not voiding any warranty by Jailbreaking :)

Jailbreaking does void the warranty if, for example, you have your jailbroken iPhone and it suddenly dies and won't wake up, meaning you can't restore. But you shouldn't have to do that in the first place, because there is still no justification for Apple not including the ability to send files over Bluetooth.
