I think i have had my wireless broadband hacked as checking on my netgear router there are websites that i have never heard of in the history and at times no one is in the house.

It is wep encrypted - is it possible to hack??

wep is easily hacked

yep wep is almost worse than no security, it gives you a false sense of security

To check if someone is hacking, go into your router settings and select the devices that are connected (you will need to know which ones are your IP addresses or not though
And by knowing their IP address, then you could try to stop them

use WPA-2 weps not overly safe also a hint add mac address filtering it is hackable but is just another deterant in my opinion

WEP is a joke, takes under a minute to crack, has done for years.

Have you put it to the test?

I am debating trying on my neighbours wep enabled router, if my wireless adapter allows it.

I am from the FBI I demand you tell the truth about those sites

Does the FBI have any powers in the United Kingdom?

I've often thought about it. Not to get free Internet Access (obviously) - but just out of curiosity. (Then maybe make use of it out on the field!):whistling:

BTW - The PO said there is no backlog of parcels. DId you get a receipt of postage? (I never send anything of value without at least that!)

id start with putting a password on your router.........doesnt matter what protection you enable wep/wpa if your router isnt secure as they can read all your settings etc

alright - bang to rights

However, the sites that arent ares on the router are on-line shops we dont use, lots of techie sites etc

I switch mine off when I'm out the house, waste of electricity.
Definitely set a password or limit the devices that can connect as advised above.

To be honest, its the face plate more than anything else that's needed! What you off again for?

check your routers arp list.

But to get to the point of needing to use the routers password they already need to have broken the wifi protection, or have a physical line into it, or the router needs remote admin enabled. And then they need their IP Address anyway.

thats what hackers do:)
