I tried to play by this sites rules and still got a 24 hour ban ...

The day before yesterday i got a 24 hour ban for what i thought was ok as i have seen it done 100's of times in threads before ..

about a week ago i posted a wanted thread and used up all its bumps.. then the day before yesterday someone else posted the same want and was offered the item .. i put in the post if the OP didnt want it i would take it ... in the end the OP said they didnt want to pay first so the OP said to the seller to offer it to me .. i have seen this done 100's of times on this site so thought it was ok .... but my lesson as well and truly been taught ..

heres my problem though .. i thought i was doin good by not breaking or bending the rules

1.i couldnt bump my thread as it was bumped to the limit (3times)
2.i couldnt pm the seller as thats against the rules
3.i couldnt repost my want as i still had mine open and needs to be closed for 7 days ..

like i say i didnt realise that asking to take an item if OP didnt want it was against rules .. so lesson taught..

anyone else think some rules need to be looked at .. ?

Rules on here are never set in stone, just depends what mood the Mods are in at the time.
#2
It's always been a rule that only people interested in the OP can post in a thread.

(14) Please ONLY post in a thread if you are interested in engaging in the sale/trade listed. Anything else will be considered thread spoiling and will be deleted. Thread spoilers, including threadjackers, face a ban from the FS/FT forum. If a member continually posts questions in multiple threads and then withdraws from the sale this will be considered thread spoiling. Low ball offers will also be considered thread spoiling and will be deleted. It is up to the original poster to use the 'report' button to notify moderators of any thread spoiling.

seems to me very silly as if op didnt want it then whats the problem
banned#7
I think it is a fair rule as it can be seen to start a bidding contest between OP, person offering item and other person wanting it.

should only post interest imo if the OP has clearly stated they are not interested

I've seen this plenty of times with xbox live codes and stuff. as long as the OP has turnt down the offer i cant see anything wrong with it. and that fact that the OP said to offer it you clearly shows they were fine with you using their thread. Another silly rule that doesn't help anyone...

Thats strange because it was for a Playstation Store Code .. and the seller wanted paying first but OP didnt want to take the risk so i his own words said ''Will leave this for Budgie2k7''
banned#10
i think its unfair to select 1 person and ban them for a day for something that happens all the time either have a rule that the mods follow or not surley there should be no grey area
#11
dont want to say too much as i will prob get a week ban but i agree no reasoning or warning just BAN locked out for a week:w00t:

Rule has changed, as long as the last post was 7 days ago, you can lock the thread and repost immediately.

(19) When a thread is expired, closed or removed from the FS/FT or FO.LK forum, the same items must NOT be relisted until a period of at least SEVEN DAYS from the last activity in the thread has passed. Those same items must NOT be listed or offered in ANY other active thread. * It's YOUR responsibility to close your active threads BEFORE relisting.

Am I missing something here why didn't you just ask the person who had the item for sale to open a sales thread?:?

What makes you so sure .. ? you cant be lookin back through my posts as they were removed from the thread in question that i got banned from .. ?

and he did turn it down and said to the seller "Will leave this for Budgie2k7"

If i had PM'd him to do that then that would break the rules .. if i also said in the OP's thread that also would be breaking rules ... i really did think sayin that if OP didnt want it i would take it was ok as i have seen it done loads of times and never seen any MODs posting any rules about it ..

if i broke a rule .. which i clearly did (not intentionally) .. then i take the Ban on the nose .. i dont mind that .. but as been said on here it seems to be one rule for one and another rule for others ...

How did the OP know you wanted it?
If he said what you posted above, it suggests that you offered before he turned it down. :?

Its this sort of petty stuff that makes me soooo happy I don't need or want to use the FS section. It seems to be a great place for whipping and biatch slapping. And there are just so many Wannabe Mods about. Right Kids!!! (They always seem to pop up in these kind of threads too!)

And whilst I agree with your greivence OP, there's no point in worring about it.

Did you get what you wanted BTW?

I did get what i wanted ... and am now enjoying the new map pack on COD MW2 .. but it has put me off the For Sale / Trade section for a while .. as i was expecting a Blu Ray and stupidly didnt get an email address from the seller and when i saw the ban i thought it was permanent and thought great what if the Blu Ray doesnt come .. but it turned up yesterday lol ...

on the OPs thread he was offered what he wanted .. he was dealing with the seller over the price .. and i then posted if he doesnt take it i will have it ... they then carried on and came to a price they both agreed .. but then the OP asked the seller to send first .. but the seller said he wouldnt do that and gave the OP his ebay ID as proof of who he was and had 100% feedback ... so the OP then said he didnt want to take the risk of paying first so he said "Will leave this for Budgie2k7"

You should have just edited your post where you inquired about the product asking it the seller could open if the OP didn't want it. The big issue for mods is the bumping of threads and people not dealing openly.

I honestly didnt think i was breaking any rules ... infact i think i may have even reported myself as i put a Thread in Misc section asking how i leave the seller a feedback ... lol

Budgie2k7, another member had posted a wanted thread & that thread is covered by forum rules re bumps permitted etc. If another member hijacks their wanted thread it could affect their chances of finding a seller - you own negotiation takes over their thread & it is no longer obvious who is buying & selling. Its one of the main forum rules & from the reports sent in by members we know its one of the rules that members feel very strongly about. We actually removed 5 posts from that thread that were not related to the OPs request - that's 5 threads that were bumped down the sales forum unnecessarily.

The very simple solution would have been that if you wanted a PSN code then simply start your own wanted thread requesting one rather than hijacking someone elses. Your thread would then be covered by the forum rules.

You chose to close your own earlier wanted thread and either should have waited 7 days from the last post or requested that it be unlocked again via the report button http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/images/custom_buttons/report.gif if you hadn't used all your thread bumps.

I had my own 'psn code wanted thread' for the same item ... but i could not bump it as all bumps were used .. nor could i PM the seller to go to my thread or deal with him there .. as i knew these were against the rules ... i closed my 'wanted' thread today as i now have the item i wanted .. also someone on this thread said that MODs only like open dealings so when i was dealing with the seller i was 'open dealing' ... as i say i didnt know it was a rule breaker and looking at replies on this thread neither do others as we have seen people doin this all the time ..
