It that expensive then? I've thought about it but thought it might ruin my hair?

I pay £50 and it lasts for about 6-8 months......does dry the hair out but for the 1st few weeks after its done I deep condition each wash and its all good after that. My hair is thick, course with a strong wave normally, so each time its washed ( when not chemically done) it takes me up to an hour to straighten it!!!!

You can send your GHD's off for repair (FOC) & if they cannot repair them, you get a pair free.

My misses & sister have both done this voer the last couple of years !!
#23
Like many others it took me a couple of seconds to realise that you hadn't had a family bereavement, lol. IU was trying to work out GHD and what relative it stood for, then my brain kicked in and realised it was the straighteners!!!!

do you know whats wrong with your GHD's? My wife's died the other day as well and faced paying over £100 for some  (madness)

I did some investigating and it looked like the cable was broken as she twists it all the time!

All I needed is a new cable which I fitted in and now works perfect, replacement cable cost £6.80 and better than paying for new GHD's

Check this link: http://www.ghd-repair.co.uk/

I think a common problem with these are the mains wire they tangle up becouse the end near the handle just spins round. my sister in law had the wire changed in hers and they are working perfect even better than before they heat up quicker too.

Are they originals, sorry to ask but so many bought are fake

Did you register them on GHD's site ?as they are covered for 2 years under their warranty BUT obviously not if they are fake.

still say you should grow a 'fro

Nip into Boots. Get their own branded starightners about £25-35. They arn't too bad, GHDs are deffo better. I got my GHDs fixed (it was the twirly bit at the end so got a replacement off ebay for £5).

edit: The boots own brand are just temporary untill you either gt yours fixed or decide which new GHDs you want.

Also not sure what you can do about the plates.

Definately originals but had them about 5 or 6 years now so definately out of warrenty - I did just phone GHD and they will try and repair them for me at a cost but couldn't say how much that would be until they've seen them :-(

My options are endless:-D
