I want a new hobby...

Hey,

I have a hobby at the moment. I love it. But, as time has gone on (10 years!) I'm now part of the behind the scenes team and that does have it disadvantages. It also means due to the hobby that I am older than most of its members and therefore the chance to meet people and make friends etc is limited.

So to make new friends, new people and experiences etc I'd like to start a hobby or take up something.

I'd like a hobby that is non commital. My current hobby is "high maintenance" which is not a problem it, but I don't want 2 of them! If I turn up that week I turn up, if I don't there is no problems. I'm not sporty (football, rugby, tennis etc). Something at college etc could be a possibilty, but wouldn't want a long term course. Something small and bitesized.

I'm male, early twenties. Any suggestions to start the ball rolling?

Try a cookery course.
Go to your nearest college and ask what night courses they have, i'm sure you'll find something to interest you. :)

What about a language?
I did a introduction to Spanish.
2 hours a week -(one day a week)

Good fun and meet some great people.

Astronomy! It's my personal favourite hobby. All you need is a relatively dark area, clear skies and your eyes. The greatest works of art are just over our heads. Get a telescope if you want to become more active than just looking with your eyes, though a good pair of binoculars can work wonders with the night sky.

Hmmm. Some good suggestions there.

Knitting doesn't seem very socialable, and not my cuppa tea. College is a good idea, cooking could be good. I fancy perhaps trying a car mechanics course maybe, I know nothing and would like to know something! Languages would be my worse nightmare though...

Current hobby: take a look at www.lancers.co.uk.

Table tennis is wayyyy too sporty for me! I just lack co-ordination, and I'm clumsy. A mystery shopper is a job!!! lol. Looked into that before actually, didn't like the tax side of things.

Photography...hmmm. What do people do with it though? Join a club, or just take random photos and have them all over the house? lol

There are college courses, camera/photography clubs, you can go on photography holidays to interesting places with others etc etc, you can take picture of sports events, portraits, landscapes list is endless. There are photography competitions, exibitions, displays, etc it doesn't have to be taking random pictures and file in a draw (or hard disk).
Of course if you don't appreciate the art, it is not going to be your thing.
