Im 30 years old..last time i played a piano was about 20 odd years ago. And that was only "silent night" and "chopsticks"

Should i give up....or do you think i still have time to learn before i die lol ?

30 is still young, you have ages! You might want to get lessons though, that can be a good idea. If you can already read music that can be helpful. Google for piano teachers in your area and I'm sure you'll find some. Go for it! I am learning the guitar at the moment as an "adult learner" and I really enjoy it; I think it's better when you are a bit older and you WANT to do it, as opposed to having to take lessons at school when you would rather be out playing with friends. I find it's a really good way to wind down as well. Good luck! 30 is the new 18 in my book....

Well I am now 45 and I took up the guitar when I was about 30 it was difficult and may times i thought about giving up but I still play and although I am not a superb player I can play lots of songs and it makes me feel good that I have a skill. Just have a go and try to stick at if you can

I cant read music at all :(
well ok i lie...i could play guitar..but only tab books :( so that doesnt really count.
I was thinking of starting off myself...and then when i fail at that..pay for lessons.

I don't read music but i do know every note on the fret board so i just improvise around scales to relax and I can pick up a song and figure it out. And yes I use Tab as well

You could start by teaching yourself to read music; start with a grade 1 ABRSM theory workbook; they are pretty cheap on Amazon, only a couple of £. It depends what sort of music you want to play; for a guitar you can get away with tab but for piano you will need notation. My little bro is working his way through his theory grades using these workbooks and is really good now; having said that, if you get some beginner's piano books they might start from the basics so you can learn as you go along. Do you have a piano already?

I say go for it OP, nothing much to lose really.. I hate those 'what if..' moments. Good luck :)

Haha yeah, a nice Casio with plenty of backing tracks. My gran had one which played some Wham when you hit the demo button.

Ebay is a great place to look for an electric or digital piano. If you can get one with weighted keys that is the best alternative and worth the extra. I used to have a Yamaha Clavinova, just a really basic one, but it was great. I think it's worth spending more in the long run, and they usually keep their value pretty well in case you decide that it's not for you after all and want to sell it on. I reckon £300 should be more than enough for something on Ebay. Have fun! I really want one but my fiance won't let me get one as we don't have space :(
