I was banned from Boffer tonight ... I'm not 100% sure why, but I can probably guess. During the last sell off I noticed that the really good deals went very fast (faster than you could click through and pay). So, being a software developer, I wrote a script which could take me from seeing a hot deal to paying in less than half a second. I thought I couldn't fail (this doesn't seem to be against any terms and conditions, but I assume this scripting was why I was banned).

I tried the script out for the first time tonight (I've used it once before on something which was selling slowly in order to test). It was a TomTom 910 for £99 ... awesome. Anyway, I ran the script and I still failed to get the item before they ran out of stock! This deal ran out in less than 2 seconds after beng posted. Minutes later I was banned.

I'm not going to bother signing up again under a different account as I have drawn my own conclusion from this episode. It's just a warning to people that they shouldn't get sucked in by the cheap prices they see in Boffers history ... no human has a chance of winning the really good items and, it would seem, neither does a computer!

I'm sure Boffer run totally within the law and if I got banned for breaking their terms and conditions, it wasn't intentional and I apologise to Boffer.

As I said, I'm sure Boffer is run totally within the law. I would never claim that they're running the equivalent of a 'mock auction' online because I have no proof and no reason to suspect that. All I can do is let people draw their own conclusions ... cheap items selling out faster than a script which took half a second can manage ... rubbish items lasting hours ....

I've been on it tonight, and I agree. IT IS A CON. I am a member, and I will happily disclose my information to any boffer management staff reading this. Let's see them take legal action for deflamation of character! Con artists. Mock auction. NO, No Auction or sell off, more like!
They just post the good things, and as you say, 2 seconds later, it's sold out...My @rse!
I refreshed, something came up, put in my basket, tried to checked out, and it had sold out....NOT POSSIBLE! Even if they had only one, it could NOT sell out that quick....BOFFER U R OVER!!

I got a Sony DVD recorder in my BOC so no complaints here

Is it possible you got banned because they do nt want anyone using tools like that. Perhaps the others that got this deal so quick(if there were any) were also banned at the same time.

During the sell off you can get a bargain because people forget to check it, but during normal boffer I dont bother waiting up until 12, and if its still there in the morning its obviously not worth it

got my DVD recorder there (biggest purchase so far on that site) for £60 grade A refurb. sweet deal and so far it works like a treat. also got those free batteries - several times. and i am not the quickest ... no complaints there but when it is a small quantity (say 20 for a few hundred people waiting to click), i dont expect the stock to last long.

most boffer items dont apply to me anyway ;)

I have had a few freebies from there, and bought about 2 or 3 things.

Have not yet ordered a BOC, but am very tempted every time!

They sell 1 item every 24 hours, when its gone, its gone. You dont find out what it is until it goes on sale at 11:59pm every night.

Every so often they have a boffer sell off, where they sell a new item every time the last one sells out, this could take minutes or it could take hours.
