I was banned from Boffer tonight ... I'm not 100% sure why, but I can probably guess. During the last sell off I noticed that the really good deals went very fast (faster than you could click through and pay). So, being a software developer, I wrote a script which could take me from seeing a hot deal to paying in less than half a second. I thought I couldn't fail (this doesn't seem to be against any terms and conditions, but I assume this scripting was why I was banned).
I tried the script out for the first time tonight (I've used it once before on something which was selling slowly in order to test). It was a TomTom 910 for £99 ... awesome. Anyway, I ran the script and I still failed to get the item before they ran out of stock! This deal ran out in less than 2 seconds after beng posted. Minutes later I was banned.
I'm not going to bother signing up again under a different account as I have drawn my own conclusion from this episode. It's just a warning to people that they shouldn't get sucked in by the cheap prices they see in Boffers history ... no human has a chance of winning the really good items and, it would seem, neither does a computer!
I'm sure Boffer run totally within the law and if I got banned for breaking their terms and conditions, it wasn't intentional and I apologise to Boffer.
