That's for sure

For all the people who don't know. I bought a domain on wednesday evening which said it would be setup within the hour. It took 12 hours for a welcome email with my details

since then i've been unable to change my DNS [it's a .co.uk domain] and all I get is:
Basic DNS Settings

1&1 name server (unmodifiable)

After several e-mails I get this reply:

Thank you for contacting us.

We really do apologize with this delay that you had encountered with
regards on
the registration of your ************** domain name in our end,
that supposedly
it would only take for 24 to 48 hours. All we can do right now is just
to wait this registration
to be finished.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Damned 1and1
Good support.
Rubbish service.

Sorry to hear you still haven't got things sorted t0mm. Been using them for several years now with no probs, but then I've never had to contact support. :?
#2
If it wasn't non-refundable i'd tell them to forget it.
#3
I have never had a problem with 1&1. I have three sites with them.
#4
Still not working.
#5
I got free hosting with 1and1 for ages when they forgot to bill me.
You'd think a Web Hosting company would invest in their own backend. Useless!
#6
I wish i'd paid the extra 40p and gone with 123-reg.
#7
i wont either its a big bloody con. They give you three months free, then charge you for another 12 months, making it a 15 month contract not 12. There website however doesnt tell you this clearly enough. I dont like it when companies do this.
#8
This is bloody scandelous.

STILL waiting.
#9
And still.
#10
Annnd still.
#11
AND Still..
It's really starting to annoy me.

Have you tried contacting them again?
#13
I have, I got the "all we can do is wait" speech again.

I wouldn't know what to put in a complain email either.
#16
Have they actually registered the domain yet? Check the whois
#17
Yes, when I check with nominet I get

The registrant is a non-trading individual who has opted to have their
address omitted from the WHOIS service.

Any ideas MSG?
#19
did you pay by paypal?, cant you open a dispute saying something like not as desicribed ? jus guessing
#20
Not that I can think of - except I read somewhere you have a 7 days cooling off period. Maybe its time to pull the plug - and try somewhere else?
#21
I think I read somewhere on their site said It's none refundable though.

and seeing as it's registered now.
I wouldn't be able to do it again, would I?
#22
I can't find anything specific to 1and1 but do a google for 'domain cooling off' and there seems to be a normal 7 day limit with most providers. I'm think nominet make this rule.
Don't forget Distance Selling Regulations apply here too, as you bought off the net.
#23
Finally, after 5 days since ordering, it's finally up!
