Hi guys, it's the Mrs' birthday next Saturday, looking for a little weekend break, hotel and a nice chilled romantic day or two.. but I'm pretty skint. Any good deals or places you can recommend?…

She did mention The Celtic Manor (home of this years Ryder Cup), but I don't fancy it personally, as it's nearly £200 a room, and it's only about 3 miles down the road, so not really much of a trip or weekend adventure away somewhere new. Although it's her birthday, so I'll probably end up there if it makes her happy.

So yeah, I'm stumped and beginning to panic.. any help would be appreciated. :)

have a look at the holiday inn offers- there is a post on here - we booked a crowne plaza at cheester with it in april - 2for1 nights - it was lovely - we paid for an upgrade and got free breakfast and nibbles/drinks in the evening - and chester was lovely to look around - walk by the river etc.

That's pretty good cheers. The place at Cardiff Bay looks quite nice too.

Very nice, love the look of that. Quite good deals too for what you're doing.

Yeah, I think the cheaper option is when there are others on the boat with you. The more expensive one is when the boat is exclusive to you.
And of course The Lake District and romantic weekends go hand in hand ( see wot i did there?) :)
