Hi

I posted this " http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/223326/help-please-my-wireless-connection-/ " a little while ago, as IE7 and Firefox would not connect to the internet after being unused for a couple of minutes, while things like AVG and Tomtom Home would update.

Now, however, it says that the computer is connected wirelessly, signal strangth is excellent, but nothing connects. Trying to update AVG, it says that my computer is not connected, but looking in control panel at wireless networks , it says connected.

I have run AVG, adaware, norton, macafee, avast, spyware blaster, spyware doctor and something else and none of them have found anything. I have also tried to do a system restore, but it says is cannot restore to any of my restore points.

I am at my wits end (and on work PC).

Does anybody have any idea of what could be happening?

Thanks!

If you have really put all the following on, then its little wonder you are having problems I'm afraid:-

AVG, adaware, norton, macafee, avast, spyware blaster, spyware doctor

For starters, get rid of AVG, norton and mcafee

restart pc and just use the vista firewall.

AVG is a good tool i use it on all my machines, but Norton and Mcafee are a pain, they try to do to much and from my expierence are more hassle.

AVG Also do a spyware software has well which is also a good tool, and would get this one and remove you adware, programs etc.

Also goto a command prompt and do a NSLOOKUP see if your DNS is working correctly.

Running two antivirus programs is probably your problem. Try getting the PC into Safe Mode (you'll see what to do as it boots up), then unistall the antivirus software and any of the 3rd party firewalls installed), restart the computer. Vista's Firewall is sufficient.

i'm not running all of them at the same time, i just downloaded them onto my laptop, then usb keyed them to my desktop.

come to think of it, i may have had adaware and avg on at the same time, around the time that i started having problems, so i'll check that when i get home.

if i type DNSLOOKUP, is that the same as services.msc, then DNS ?

did what you all said and hey presto!!! working. no problems whatsoever. i think it all started when i installed spyware blaster and then got worse when i installed adaware (while i had avg running)
