you cant bid on your own auction using the same account if thats what you mean?
#2
then you have to pay fees for your own sale. Plus risk the chance of being banned by ebay for shill bidding, presuming you mean a different account.
#3
Lol, why would you do that :?

You could always file a NPB with EBAY stating that you did'nt pay yourself to claim your fees back:p, if using different accounts. Either way ebay are preety hot on shill bidding and they will catch you.

That said you only get a warning and tutorial style questionairre for a 1st offence, but the second time they catch you both accounts get suspended for 30 days

You cant do it on the same account. but multi accounts you can be you get banned for it if you get caught however loads of people do it, hence the reason why i never use ebay.

Why wouldn't you use Ebay because of that.

You can buy plenty of things on BIN thus avoiding the shillers:thumbsup:

BIN? Not aware of that? See i would rather try and buy the same thing on here as at least i know there isnt somebody sitting bumping up the price. Plus no fees and no paypal = less hassle.

Really,do you think so :whistling:

They 'might' catch you if someone reports it,and given that its almost impossible for someone to spot now with the hidden winning bidders you've a fair chance of getting away with it

As a buyer you don't pay any fees.

BIN=buy it now

It's at a set price so can't be shilled,i rarely buy anything on auction i'm too impatient.

I agree its almost impossible to detect, if I bid on something I never accept a second chance offer unless they lower the price to what it was before the "winning" bidder came in......

No the hidden bidder thing can make it easier in a way IF you know what your looking for:thumbsup:

Got any tips what to look for?

Yeah it's quite easy if you think you are being shilled go into the bid activity and it's a case of looking at the figures, most shillers are stupid and you will notice a high activity with the seller in random categories, digging deeper if not so obvious using goofbay and stuff looking out for giveaways such as relisitng.

It's pretty easy to start uncovering patterns in most cases.

Well like you say that works ok with the stupid shillers, but some aren't that silly,or shilly ;-)

Also even if you do think it looks suss you can't see the winning bidders id unless they are even stupider and have left previous feedback,

Since you can have as many ebay id's as you want its definately easy to shill and get away it if you use a bit of common sense and keep alternating the id's you use,

Don't like that hidden bidder thing at all

The reason why I ask is because I saw this:
http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/1563/bidding.jpg
I was suspicious of Bidder 8, why did they bid 4 times consecutively?

Was this an example of shilling, or simply a stupid buyer?

it will only show because maybe they where outbid by someone who had put in a higher limit, when you put in a price higher than what its going for i dont think all bids are shown when automatic bidding is done, although i could be wrong

there is somewhere you can put an ebay names in and will show how many bids have been made on a certain persons auctions, not sure what its called though

If anything I would be suspicious of bidder 9................a new bidder who pushed up bidder 8's proxy bid.

You see that's common all that shows is they have put in a proxy bid and had their bid pushed up.........so you would want to look at bidder 9's history really.

Bidder 9 could be entirely innocent tho,you couldn't determine anything else from the info shown, all they did was place a bid in the last few mins of auction

i doubt if ebay give a monkeys about shill bidders, after all the higher the final selling price, the more money they make. If I bid on an item and it goes above what I want to pay, I just leave it. If they win their own auction then it's tough luck on them.
