Well, that's what i'm thinking and in a purely selfish way hoping for :w00t:

But i'm sure they will get bailed out somehow

No Man Utd will be given the empty slot.
#4
its not going to happen, the premier league will come up with some sort of rescue package to at least until the end of the season so pompei can fulfil their fixtures.

If they simply ceased to exist the fa cup and premier league would be thrown into chaos and become a laughing stock, the fa won't allow this to happen.

Probably more realistic than most of the crap you post on here. (Seriarse)

Still, I think Pompey should be given help, it's not like they are a small club like the others that have fallen before.

may well be but they will not be allowed to disappear and not be able to fulfill their fixtures. They will probably be advanced any payments due from the league or automatically relegated and given their parachute payment to cover what they owe until the end of the season.

Something will be done to ensure their survival.

It's already happened to a team in Belgium this season, so the precedent has already been set.

http://www.wsn.com/2009/12/28/football/news/other-european-domestic-leagues/bankrupt-mouscron-pull-out-of-belgian-league_26916/

Now Pompey are through to the next round of the FA cup though they'll be due more prize money / tv revenue, so this might bail them out for a bit longer.

Why not.. you think the fa will let a match not take place.. this is purely hypotetical anyway, as pompy will not go bust, if anything will go into administration and let most of their players leave on a free to get the wages down so they can survive

PLus don't you think saints will be annoyed that they got beat by a not existant team.

The premiership would also have to deduct all the points for teams who have played pompy twice.

Its just overall too much hassle for them to let pompy vanish

An arrest warrant has been issued in Dubai for the Portsmouth chairman and former owner Sulaiman Al Fahim, according to reports.

The warrant relates to a disputed property deal with Al Fahim allegedly owing a sum of £1.4m.

Lets hope the court see this as the nail in the coffin for them.

if anything, todays news is GOOD news for pompey.

About time the clubs in the EPL where brought to account for grossly paying over the odds for players and mismanaging their clubs

Hopefully a few more teams will go to the wall along with Pompey

The Premier League should say yes - but no clubs are allowed to buy players yet.

Sounds fair;-)

I think Portsmouth need to explain what happened to the 'serious buyers' they had last week.

If it was bs then they need punishing.
#28
I could accept them giving them cash upfront to stay afloat but letting them flog players off outside the transfer window is unacceptable. They had the january transfer window to get rid of who they wanted to sell, or they could just end contracts with some of their ******* players.

They are bound to get away with it somehow.

The premier league brand and the FA won't want a top tier club going to the wall.
#30
Maybe they could be allowed to sell players but keep them on loan until the end of the season.

I can see the reason for a window for buying, but not one for selling.

They'd still have to pay their wages until the end of the contract so your idea is completely flawed.

Cant see many clubs wanting to buy Portsmouth players, pay the cash then let them stay at pompey for the rest of the season to get potentially injured. It would be the business plan of a mad man.

No you can buy a player but loan him back to the club you bought him from, it has been done in the past.

That way Portsmouth would raise the revenue required but no players would change clubs, until the end of the season.

How many Pompey players have a high value anyway? Most transfers fees these days are split over the duration of the contracts, so it's not like they're going to be able to bring in millions quickly.
#37
Pompey could still loan their players to Championship clubs which would reduce their massive wage bill.

Don't think their big earners would be happy to go and play in the Championship though.

Why would a club want to do that?

Come the end of the season there's a chance Pompey will go bust and they could get the same player for free.
#39
I don't really understand what going into administration means, Palace have done that haven't they but they don't seem to be suffering as badly (apart from the 10 point reduction). Perhaps Portsmouth will too.
#40
No please Pompey don't dissapear, such a shame oh well they beat the saints 4-1 hahahahahaha. that's all theat counts really:whistling:
