PC World?!?! Buy online and you'll get a much better machine with better support.

a910 : DC1.6, 2GB, 160GB
HP DV9702EA: X2 2.0, 2GB, 120GB
Toshiba P200-1IR DC1.6, 2GB, 120GB

Highest speed would be the HP at the cost of battery life. a910 has the largest hard drive if that's important.

However, for £374 you could have a 17" Dell with a Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz CPU, 2GB RAM, dedicated graphi9cs and a 250 GB hard drive!

You are confused because you don't have any user requirements. Typical user requirements are:-
looks, weight, feel, screen, battery duration (when you do some sum you can also work out how energy efficient the electronics are, the more efficient the less heat that it generates and less the fan has to come on to blow the heat out), after sales service, warranty period

Buy that if it's true, great spec!

Out of the 3 from PCWorld i'd say the HP as it's got AMDx2 processor, the others have the old dual core.
The HP also has NVIDIA 8400 dedicated graphics card.

Does this work?

You need to fill in your name as the company name and remove all insurance/extended warranty rubbish...

Note that the Dell Vostro above comes with Vista Business whereas the 3 you selected came with Vista home Premium.

Note that there are applications provided in Vista Home Premium that are NOT in Vista Business.

This includes the Windows Media Centre and Media Centre Extenders, Windows DVD Maker and Windows Movie Maker.

This may not bother you, but just letting you know in case you plan to use one of those applications.

One extra thing.

All the laptops you chose have 17" screens.

This is fine if the laptop will be fairly static, maybe in one place in your home, but if you plan to carry it around a lot a laptop with a 17" screen is going to be larger and heavier.
