If you're odering something big form Argos and live in a flat, beware...

Ordered a washing machine for my son 3 weeks ago, told the guy on the Argos order line 3 times he lived in a 3rd floor flat and would that be a problem, was told 'no' everytime. So I also pay for their collect and connect, where they take the old machine away and connect up the new one

The van shows up and the guys off load the washer and ask where he wants it, he tells them the 3rd floor and they say, 'Naw mate, we don't go up more than 30 step.' and drive off (with the machine on the road outside his flat). And did I say it was raining ?

After a while he get a mate round to help him lug it up the stairs.
They get it in and connected (which you may remember I paid Argos to do) and it won't work.
The highly intelligent delivery guys have taken out the transit bolts while it was on the lorry and getting it up the stairs has stuffed the drum which now no longer goes round in a circle.

I call Argos and have a go, they say call the manufactures and they'll fix it. I call them and explain why it won't work and they say it wasn't installed right and they want nothing to do with it !

Back to Argos, they say their very sorry and will refund me the collect and connect fee and deliver and fit a new one with a different company.

All looking good. I had their refund cheque this morning... made out to someone else !

Why do I bother?

If you live in a flat I really can't recommend you buy from Argos. . .

What an headache that must of been, Sometimes they just don't get it right.

Personally never had a problem with Argos and any problems I have had have been rectified etc..

I once dropped a washing machine onto my uncle when trying to take it down some steps from his second floor flat..!!!

Luckily he was ok and he helped save the washing machine as he slowed it down.

Yeah, I agree. BUT they ask you to sign the paper work before they tell you that their not going up the steps, don't they... By the time you realise its too late.

I had a shop sell my neighbour a fridge and left it at the curb and wouldn't carry it in. They then wouldn't start the truck (kept stalling) and asked could they use the phone.

Why would you accept it in the first place if they was just going to leave it out in the rain after removing the packaging?

You should have refused to sign

Argos delivery men that have brought stuff to me have all been miserable lazy swines.
The last ones moaned that they were having to carry a bed upstairs...on a Saturday!!! They said they wouldn't have minded any other day of the week! I think they would have also preferred me to juggle a bed and a baby upstairs on my own.
What exactly do they think they are paid for???

So would I if I'd been there. But it was a case of, "Sign this while we get it down of the lorry mate." THEN when they found out where it had to go it was too late.

Its the sort of thing they'll catch on once, but one only...

I had a washing machine "delivered" from Argos this morning, I live on the first floor and they refused to take it up the stairs because it was "too dark" - all of the lights were on btw. So they left it in the downstairs hallway. Someone from Argos rang me a minute later while the delivery guys were still sat outside to ask if I was happy and I said: "No, I'm not" "OK sir we'll get them to take it away and arrange another delivery" The guys came back about half an hour later and duly took the machine away - no idea when it will be delivered again. Not happy
