do the right choice by you, noone on here will stand by you in a few months time when you wish you'd stuck to your guns. get the 307 if thats what you fancy and dont listen to anyone else.

If anyone thinks you're getting a bad deal, ask them to put their hands in their pockets and offer you a better price

good luck with your new car, I don't know much about Peugeot, but best of luck.

Have you thought about getting the diesel version if you are going to be doing a fair journey to your caravan often? Will save some cash now diesel and petrol are roughly the same price :)

I had a Pug and it served me well. It's your choice and as long as you have researched and are happy with what youre getting then don't be put off by others!

ive done no reseach i went in saturday and wanted ford focus or 307 but wanted better miles, i dont want diesel as i dont like the noise. stuck by my guns.
is there a site to find out good and bad points on cars.
also in that price i got my private plate swap aswell that 105.
the thing ill miss is 4w drive how fast it can get to 60mph.

. Go for a jap car.

He is trading a Jap car for a French one.

It's a bit late now, sounds like the deal is done.

i think with all cars you get good and bad
it was between focus and 307
focus was more money and more miles box standed
this looked nice in and out, more miles on petrol, low miles on clock not a bad price

Have a look at Parkers:

http://www.parkers.co.uk

They go over the various parts of the car and also mention any reliability issues. I wouldn't dismiss diesels quite so quickly, a modern common rail diesel is usually no noisier than a petrol - in fact hire companies are having a lot of problems now with people filling diesels with petrols as the people hiring them assume diesels are noisy and therefore if the car is quiet, it must be a petrol.

I agree Pugs haven't been well built in years, Have a 2001 306. Basically the same engine as the new HDi's. Engines great but every part surrounding it is not built to last. I have basically rebuilt the front end of the car, suspension, bushes, arms, power steering pump, rack has a knock. Diesel pump has play in it. Most have eletrical faults of some sorts, mine has a constant changing airbag light which is easily fixed but just shows bad build quality on something as small as the sensors. Oh and don't get me started on the plastics. My mum has a 307 and it is alright at the mo, but its just had a new turbo.

As I said, diesels are no longer noisy (at least for common rail based variants) - in some cases they're actually quieter than the petrols now, even the racing ones.
