I am looking at getting either or, they are both going to work out the same price in the end with the wireless extra for the 360 and the subscription fee, but i wonder whats the best to go for - will the ps3 have some good games out this next year?? I have heard they are charging for downloads if so how much are they??

Im not into a lot of shoot them up games like Halo 3 etc so wondered what other style of games the Xbox 360 has to offer?

Im a lady in need of a decision..please help me decide!

360 has alot of shoot em up games. if you like adventure games then ps3 has a few to offer and alot of games are coming out next year. the downloads which sony are charging people for are classic ps1 games like crash bandicoot and spyro. there like 5 pounds each.

Can you list some of the games you do enjoy playing? That would help people point you in the right direction.

The cost of downloads varies depending on the content, it might be a fiver for a simple little game up to 20 pounds for something like Warhawk (which is a bargain).

We have both, just asked my husband who is playing right now on the ps3 and he said get both!!

Men eh??? Anyway if you only want one then the 360 will have a better current choice of games, which can be picked up much cheaper..... But the ps3 is wicked and there will be lots of games coming in the new year. If you want to consider future costs the ps3 don't charge to play online.

(Would recommend you get elite if you go for the 360)

Good luck, happy gamiing!!

I would have both if i had the money, but hubby is a bit iffy bout me getting yet another gaming system as i have the Wii but want something more for normal gaming - he doesn't understand he doesn't do gaming LOL - I need to make right choice so i stick with it as i can go through consoles like no tomorrow, think the Wii is what i have kept the longest at about 12mths nearly!!

So to sum up the answer of the question, 'PS3 or Xbox 360?'

Is... PS3 or Xbox 360.

You'll find that the two platforms will offer the same games really, 360 has some cool exclusives such as Fable 2 but the PS3 has Metal Gear Solid 4. GTA 4 will be available for both, but the 360 version will have exclusive downloadable content. I highly recommend Skate for either, best next gen skateboarding game, the new Tony Hawks game is nowhere near as good.

I would say go for the PS3. Even if find that you prefer Wii sort of games and PS3/360 you aren't going to play on all the time, at least the PS3 can be used as multimedia centre with a Bluray player and also Home is coming out next year which will make the free, online experience just as good as the 360's.

In terms of games, 2008 is Sony's big year as most of it's big games are coming out next year. Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, Gran Turismo 5, Haze, Final Fantasy XIII, Buzz PS3, Tekken 6 and Killzone 2 are all big exclusives coming out next year as well as all the big multiplatformers such as GTA4.

Really what you need to ask yourself if what games do you prefer playing? If you like the games such as Halo 3 and Mass Effect and the other big 360 games then go for the 360(although most 360 exclusive games will also come out on the PC somewhere down the line, but obviously you may not want to wait for this), if you prefer the games coming out on the PS3 then go for the PS3. Either way you won't be disappointed

The Wii is great fun, but as you say not for 'real' gaming. We have all the systems, around the house...... including old xbox and gamecube etc. etc.

I would say the 360 for the fact there is such a vast choice of games out there right now if you want to take advantage of some good prices...... BUT having said that am just looking at the quality of the PS3, which is awesome but that depends on your tv!

So many options!!!! (my personal advice tho would be ps3 just don't pay the earth for it)

PS3!!!!!!!!!!!

It is more powerfull than the 360.
It upscales dvd to High Def 1080
It plays Divx files
You can link your PSP to it and play movies, music and look at photos remotely via wifi.
You can download old PS1 games, such as Crash Bandicoot, and put them on your PSP as well for free!!!
It has full internet.
Playstation network is.........FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Play ps1 and ps2 games on it in upscaled high def (60GB version only)
Theres loads more stuff too......

The games list for next year looks the nuts as well. Cant recommend it more.:santa:

PS3:
Blu-ray player
Controllers that dont need user to pay extra for a play and charge kit, or for batterys
PS3 has bluetooth built in so you can send media from your PC, Phone or laptop wirelessly.
ALOT less likely to break down than 360 (and this is something to consider as 360s break down alot and everytime you do, you'll be without ur 360 for 2 weeks BUT newer 360's have the newer chip which supposedly breaks down less but theres no real evidence)
PS3 is a really quiet console in comparison to the noise made by 360's fan.
You dont have to pay £35-£40 a year to play against your freinds online unlike 360.
Comes with either a 40gb or 60gb Hard drive which allows you to store for than the Premium version of Xbox 360.
The Playstation Network uses dedicated servers for online games so theres next to no lag. This also means more players online in certain games i.e. Call of duty 4's 18 (360) v 24 (ps3) players.
Games have started to look only a tiny bit better than 360.
Can be connected to a PSP for remote access and remote play.
It has a wireless adapeter built in so no extra cost to suer if they want to have the PS3 online wirelessly.
More expensive

Xbox 360:
Can be connected to your PC and used as a media center that shares content with your PC.
Must pay £35-£40 a year to play against your friends online. Sometimes it can be laggy as the network is not run on dedicated servers.
Has a greater selection of games to choose from.
If you buy a 360 you might get the 3 red rings of fire/death/fanboys/hell.
More suited to hardcore gamers as it mainly has traditional hardcore games i.e first person shooters.
To connect your 360 wirelessly you must buy an extra wirless adapter to do this (£45)

I personally would go for PS3 as you get "more" for your money in my opinion.

Right thats it, my mind is made up, thanks to all that helped :D

A PS3 is whats im gonna get

Get one from Amazon if you want a 40gb one as they have it for £269.99 with free delivery and for £20 more you get Pro Evo 2008 too.

this is my angle
i bought the ps3 some time ago now because i had been brought up on the playstation.
i know the controller inside out as it has hardly changed since the original ps1.
i tried a friends xbox and for the life of me found it too hard to control.
both are good consoles but for the reasons above, if your used to playstations 1 &2 get a ps3:roll:

I have a 360 and i love it, great range of games.

I would get a PS3 next year when the actual "great" games come out. I'm going to wait until there is a few good exclusive games out on the ps3 before i get it.

No point getting a ps3 to play 4 games that aren't on 360
#16
The PS3 is only just picking up speed as well, the Xbox has had a years head start.

The PS3 is still getting better.
#17
Yup i have used a PS1 and PS2 and a PSP, also i have tried on original xbox but hate the controllers whether they are similar to 360's i dont know but i know they were to confusing for me and i couldnt function it properly lol
#18
i have always had playstation but choosing the XBOx, it has far better online game play wich is a big bonus for me.

I have a PS3. It does loadsa stuff really well.

Assuming its connected to an HD ready TV by HDMI cable and to the internet by Ethernet/Home Plug - Forget Wireless unless you are on top of the wireless router, then.......

Its a Blu-Ray Player and there's loads of BD disca out there from under a fiver. It also upscales Region 2 DVD'd very well, a big difference to old Scart connected DVD players.
it plays loads of games from £1 up and there many free demo downloads. You can create multiple identities and get stuff from the US. It surfs the internet and will use any usb keyboard including wireless. it includes a wireless game controller, you need a blue tooth remote ~(£15).

Its not Microsoft which has many benefits.

If you have a home PC you can set that up as a Media server for free using Orb, Tversity or SimpleCenter. Then you look at most media on your PC on the new big screen, or listen to music, this is what we really really like.

Bad Points, it get hot, it has a fan that could be a bit loud, but we don't hear it.
There are no hacks I know about that allow you to play non-region2 DVD's or non-Region B Blu-Ray, but so far the majority of Blu-Rays are region free. There are sites that list them.
In my opinion Blu-Ray will win the battle of the Formats, it seems to be winning in USA and Japan. Xbox is HD-DVD. Both formats are equally high quality but incompatible.

The Sony Game Controllers are Sixxaxis, ie you can tip them in many games to move etc and that is stunning. I find a lot of the games too complicated and/or violent and I think most big launch games are on both formats.

I like the way Sony keep adding features by firmware download.

The Sony Warranty is amazing, mine died on Sunday, rang up, gave Serial number details and new one delivered (to work) Tuesday. Service with a very big Smile.

So for me its the PS3. its also a design statement, its very very pretty :~))))

Best of luck and Happy Christmas.

I know its too late but id get a 360, cos if you wanna play online your gonna be dissapointed with the ps3. Only get it if you want a blu-ray player. Other than that it makes a good dust collector.

Why do people say this?
The only PS3 game that I has been a letdown for me online is ProEvo. Although I haven't played it on the 360 yet, I hear its equally as bad.
