IMPORTANT - BG Click Energy customers need to switch now!

BG put up clicke energy 5 prices by about 50% for electric and 40% for gas.

Go to the link below to upgrade to the new click energy 6 which for me was 20% cheaper for electric and 10% cheaper for gas.

Only takes a minute to do.

I am with E.on on a pre payment electric meter which over the years acquired a debt (no fault of mine, they didn't come and sort the meter out when the prices went up! ) I have now paid the debt off in a lump sum & asked to be changed to a quarterly meter, which they have said would cost me £50.00 ! flippin' cheek or what !
So I have now changed my electric over to British Gas who will change the meter for free. Their elec prices are cheaper than E.on too for my area.
(takes a few weeks my changeover will be 25th Oct)

That 9.54p a day is a rate before you use anything! so nearly £35 extra a year before you even start!

Thanks, was worth a try!

Going to phone BG for a fight, total con to open a new one called click 6 and not put the prices as high as they are for all the current customers on click 5!
#14
I've just been on the phone to British Gas and was told that customers who are on the "Click Energy" tariffs get swapped onto the new tariffs automatically. Apparently, Click 5 is no longer available to purchase, only Click 6 which was released today. She also told me the prices are the same on 5 and 6.
I asked the (miserable cow) person why I was not automatically switched onto a lower tariff and she said it was because I said "no" to receiving information (junkmail) about their products and services.!!!!! :w00t: So I have been on their standard tariff the whole time. :x
I hate talking to these kind of people, they make out like they don't know what you are asking and just keep repeating the same thing over and over again.

45 minutes on the phone and they hung up on me!

They promised a call back from the manager within 4 hours though, will believe that when I see it!

They basically agreed with me that the reason they do it is because about 90% of people will stay on the older tariff and pay more money than they need to as the only difference in the tariffs is that 6 is cheaper than 5.

Didn't expect to get anywhere as such but people should phone them and give them an ear full about stitching all the customers up so they have to make the switch to the new cheaper tariff. I asked to automatically be kept on the cheapest tariff and the guy refused. Which proves my point about why they create the new tariff. They couldn't give me a single reason why they made a new one other than to hope that most people stay on the older more expensive one.

well i have just been told you have to apply to go onto click 6 even if on click 5, as you will not be moved automatically, and to be honest i have been threough all the tarfiis of the clicks, and always had to move myself, never been moved automatically

Just checked topcashback and it states nothing on there about being an exsisting customer, so maybe worth a try

Sorry but no idea what the 'essentials' thing is you are referring to.

And let's be clear to those being misinformed by BG 'customer service' reps:-

1. They do NOT automatically switch you to click 6 from click 5. Do it yourself using the link I posted at the top.

2. Click 6 is 20% cheaper for electric and 10% cheaper for gas (tier 2 rates Scottish power region)

Not sure why I am in the Scottish power region when I used to be with Seeboard years ago and am in Sussex :w00t:

I don't know if this could help anyone save some money, but it may be worth checking into:

EDF Energy

http://www.savetodaysavetomorrow.co.uk/

Save Today Save Tomorrow

EDF Energy is helping to tackle climate change - and by taking the 2012 Carbon Challenge you can too. Sign up to join thousands of others in reducing your CO2 emissions through regular energy-saving advice that could save you up to £166* on your energy bills. You'll also get the chance to win great prizes like a hybrid car or a day's sailing with two Team GB Beijing 2008 Gold Medallists.

*The figure of £166 is the potential saving achievable by an EDF Energy customer with a typical consumption supplied on our standard tariffs, meeting the challenge to reduce their annual household energy consumption by 17% through energy saving measures. Typical consumption means 3,300 kWh of electricity and 20,500 kWh of gas each year.

I only signed up to Click Energy 5 Aug 1st, does anyone know if I can switch to another provider or is there rules against switching so quickly?

I just did some calculations of my usage, if I switch to Click Energy 6, it will be more expensive than going to another provider so I want to just leave British Gas but no idea whether I'm tied into any contract??

Thanks man...Cheers to csiman for bring this up. I just submitted a switch to ScottishPower. Save myself £20 in a year lol Still good imo cause I spent 20min waiting before I could speak with british gas' customer service staff and then being told the wrong information.

Just a reminder for everyone....if you are on the Click Energy 5 tariff, it doesn't mean the Click Energy 6 will be cheaper. Check out ScottishPower as well, for people that only have electricity, you will most likely find ScottishPower's cheapest tariff about £20 cheaper than British Gas and will also get cashback too if you go through quidco. I tested using avg monthly spend of £60, £80, £90, £100 and ScottishPower came back the cheapest. But it'll depend on where you live too so just check them out!

Worth a bump for those returning home from work!
#23
Worthy bump, have just been speaking to csi and he made the good point that I should still change to click 6 even though I'm going to switch to another company. I was going to just switch to another company but if I don't change to click 6 then I'm going to be paying over the odds for the next couple of months whilst the transfer goes through. Thought I'd share that tip with you in case you're changing company and forgot to switch to click 6 first.

Quidco amounts have dropped now for British Gas. Only £5 for a dual fuel switch today, as opposed to £20 yesterday, and only £2.50 for single fuel. :x

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. And if yes, what reasons have you been given for not being to able to switch tariff quickly.
I am and have always been with British Gas. So you would think it would be as easy as pie to switch from one of their darn right expensive tariffs to one of their cheaper ones right? Oh no!
It seems British Gas are going to keep you on that nice fat expensive tariff for as long as possible.

Well 3 weeks ago I applied online to move to Click 6 Energy with British Gas. I got a reply thanking me for choosing British Gas.

Well today I get this email ( shown in part ) from them.
