VAT at 17.5% (£47.25) & customs handling charge (not known) - then you will need a power convertor to play it on UK voltage.....
#2
Handleing charge is £12 with parcelforce i believe.

You dont need a power converter though, it has one built in

...You will also not be able to play UK Blu-ray movies in an imported PS3 console (from the US/Canada, &/or from Japan); games titles will be OK, as they are not region-locked, but regional movie titles can only be played in the source region.

===
EDIT (for clarity):

A UK PS3 will play UK Blu-ray movie discs, UK/PAL PS2 games, but PS3 games from any region (UK, US, &/or Japan).

A US/Canadian PS3 will play US/Canada Blu-ray movies discs, US/NTSC PS2 games, and PS3 games from any region.

etc...

If you import I'd get a Hong Kong version. They are the cheapest to buy retail and also run off the same plug as UK so no need for step down or adapters or anything.

As for shipping, I bought mine back as hand luggage when I was in Thailand, so if you know anyone who will be out in the Far East, i.e. HK, Thailand, Malaysia etc, then see if they will bring one back. Never got asked by customs either, I would have just said that I took it with me from the UK.

Could always get the seller to get rid of the box for you and stick a note in there such as "Was nice to see you again James, can't believe you left your PS3 at my house, you numpty" :D

Never know it might work!

I think it's OK to privately bring one through customs, but not actively bring through for re-sale, although I don't know for sure.

They managed to stop e-tailers dealing in imported PSPs into the UK, so much so that one, Lik-Sang.com, had to close due to loss of sales.

For reference:

Also, Sony also stopped pre-sales of PS3's via a certain auction site:

PS. Don't forget if you are importing yourself then any form of warranty claim would mean either having to go back to the States or shipping it back there; either way, a costly process.

This company have an excellent reputation for getting consoles to UK customers without any charges and within a few days.

Many blu-rays are multi-region - it takes a little research to find out which ones are. As for the use of DVDs and PS2 games, it depends what you'd like to use your PS3 primarily for. For me, this isn't an issue.
