go to the store with the goods explain what you came into the store for and that the salesman told you that the computer would do all that but you are not happy and want to buy the right one - they will let you swap if it means they will get the sale after all i theory you have been mis sold an item by the salesman

Take it back and say its not fit for purpose and the salesman lied to you.

According to trading standards you are perfectly within your rights to get a refund

I am sure that comet will hgive you a refund rather than facing the wrath of trading standards......

Excellent advice  Personally, I would print a copy of that off, take it into the store with your laptop all boxed up ready to go back and the recipet, point the manager in the direction of the part where it states not fit for the purpose (which it's not, as the sales person didn't listen to what you wanted) and if they still wont back down make sure you ask for the managers name in full so they realise this shoddy decision will come right back at them, then ask for the head office address and say you'll be getting Trading Standards involved and sending a letter to head office detailing how the manager refused to co-operate with Trading Standards rules. Hopefully, it won't come to that though once the manager realises it's all going to go directly back to them...

take it back and explain that the sales man sold it incorrectly, i was soald a small laptop from pc world and was told it had bluetooth when i got it home it didnt so i took it back and explained that, they checked with the salesman who admitted the mistake (he got the mother of all bo%&ockings!!) they offered me allsorts to swap/replace the laptop etc but in the end i got a full refund, just be polite lose your temper and they will just get stubborn and mention everything thats been written in this thread.

Exactly as the others have said.

They will always fob someone off who isnt armed with facts relating to the sale and terms and conditions they are governed by. When speaking though, remain calm.

If they still try to fob you off, inform them that it leaves you with no choice but to take the matter to court and will be using the evidence to prove they mis sold you the computer and that their staff have deliberately lied else need more training! State you will also be taking the matter forward with Trading Standards.

They will budge - unless there is something else you have missed out? I assume you still have all the packaging?

Go in there, and don't leave till you get your money back. Book the day off work if needbe.

As the day goes on, get louder and louder and louder. Your within your rights to get your money back.

Tell him politely that it isn't your problem, his sales person shouldn't have sold you something that you didn't want.

I think the moral of this story is don't trust sales people :giggle:

Exactly what you should tell them. Incidently, if he starts going on about them losing money again, tell them to take it out of the useless sales persons wages as a reminder to actually sell the customer what the customer is after and not what will make him better comission...
