I had this problem and spent ages trying to open it throught network settings etc...

In the end I just bought them av network adapters, wish I had done this in the first place rather than waste my time. Id recommend u do the same, bout £40/50

In most cases you will need to set up port forward rules - this ensures when data comes in on a certain port for your machine, the router knows to direct it to the right place. You need to make sure you set the correct ports and destination ip addresses though otherwise it will make no difference.

There are a set of telnet commands that change the type of Nat here
Explained here http://www.ureadit.com/xbox-live-nat-router-problems/

Still looking for the commands, bear with me, they are hard to find on google.

commands here

Try a restart of the router and XBox first. If still not working, try this:

Go to Start, Run and type cmd
Then type telnet 192.168.1.254 and press Enter
Enter your username and password

Then type the following exactly as shown below and press Enter after typing the 0

:connection bind application=CONE(UDP) port=0
:ids config state disabled
:connection appconfig application=CONE(UDP) timeout=0
:saveall

The ip 192.168.1.254 will be whatever your routers ip address is..............

log into router and enable UPNP and make sure DHCP is also enabled then AUTO in 360 network settings.

Then if still no good buy a Dlink DSL-G624M or a zyxel 660 hw1 or belkin f5d77633-4 and use upnp and dhcp on them they also work with 2 or more 360 on live from same network at same time , ps3 is the same.

After enabling upnp and dhcp you still need to save router settings and maybe even restart router

which model number is your philips/ modem router ?

yer upnp is enabled.

I can play with most people on xbox live its just like a few people on my friends list i cant connect to them at all.

Any ideas of how much these routers will cost.

Telnet isn't enabled by default in Vista if that's what you're using (it is in XP/2K), you'll need to add it in.

to save you the grief of port forwarding just make the Xbox IP address static and add that IP to the DMZ, all will be fine

http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductID=463688&source=froogle

these sync your dsl line quite high and drop snr to 6 easily which means if you live miles away from exchange you may get frequent re-syncs.

If you got good line and close to exchange and your previous router in your case philips syncs low keeps snr high your download speeds will be a lot faster using Zyxel. I have owned 3 of these Zyxels and each syncs higher than they should at various properties and various phone line lengths.

Also works with 2 or more 360 via upnp and dhcp with ease and open nat on both or 3rd etc Nat 2 on 2 or more ps3 as well.

Thanks guys reppin every1 gona go wiv a new router instead.

Putting your 360's IP in a DMZ like Alfonse said should sort the problem. Then get rid of any port forwarding rules for that IP address so they don't conflict.

Before you go down the new router road, have you checked to see if you're running the latest firmware.

I messed around with all the port forwarding gubbins whilst I was on a previous version of firmware & it did nothing for me......then 5 mins spent updating the firmware & bingo....worked from the off (without the need for port forwarding etc).

May be worth a shot before you fork out £40+ quid, nothing to lose.

We had this problem, me and my brother couldnt connect to certain games, some people couldnt connect to us. In the end we bought a new router. It didn't solve the problem at all. We put the old netgear router back in which had upnp and we flushed the dns and found that it worked. But then evertime we turned off our consoles and turned them back on it wouldnt work because the dns cache on the router had our info from the first session.

This is how we solved it. uPNP enbled. We forwarded the ports to accept incoming connections on xbox 360 ONE. Ports tcp/udp 88 tcp/udp 3074. Then on xbox 360 TWO we enable DMZ which opens everything inbound and outbound. In your case with only one xbox i would just open the ports and reboot router. If that doesnt work then enable DMZ mode on the ip of your xbox and try that.
