What on earth might have happened? All the other functions work fine including selecting the grill as normal. I have had a thorough Google, but I can't find anyone with the problem. Any idea what might be happening or how I can fix it?

One of the most common problems is a blown element . They dont last forever . I had changed 2 in 8 years on my old NEFF oven . The first one cost £27 , the 2nd was £9 from amazon. I changed them myself , easy job and saves a £49.00 call out charge plus fitting .
A few weeks ago there was a knock at my door from a neighbor who had been baking cakes and the oven suddenly went off .I went into her kitchen and explained about the element . Opened the oven door , removed the cover plate at the back and there it was ..................a blown element .
She ordered a one from the internet and her dad fitted it .
If your going to take alook , make sure the cooker is OFF at the mains .............goes without saying but it can be easy to forget.

Had a similar problem myself. It's going to be your element that has gone. Dead easy to fix. Found a guide on youtube showing how to do it and it took me about 15 mins to do.

Definitely element. Don't hire someone as they charge a fortune and it's surprisingly easy to fix

Thanks, I'll look into the replacement cost. I thought of the element initially, but why does that make the grill come on when oven is selected? I wondered if maybe the selector switch was fried?

HI,

I HAVE AN INDESIT FDM20X1 DOUBLE OVEN. THE FAN DOESN'T ALWAYS COME ON WHEN WE SWITCH THE MAIN OVEN ON. I TOGGLED THE DOOR SWITCH EARLIER THEN THE FAN CAME ON, BUT PRIOR TO THAT I COULD SEE THAT THE FAN WAS GLOWING HOT. AFTER THAT THE MAIN FUSE WENT. CAN ANYONE COME UP WITH AN ANSWER PLEASE?

MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE, TONY.

Same thing happened to my oven last xmas. The element had gone and i ordered a replacement one from Amazon. Took 35-45 mins to replace it.
