Labour recently demanded the government launch an immediate inquiry into “improper interference in our democratic politics” by Israel. The link to this petition is below. Please sign it. The Israeli operative was denounced by the Israeli embassy and sent back home. The civil servant and Conservative official he talked to was forced to resign. This is no trivial matter. We should not have any foreign country trying to subvert the power of our democracy in the UK.

Further to the revelation made that a senior political officer at the UK’s Israeli Embassy talked of bringing down a UK Minister, other MPs, and influenced the setting up of groups within the Conservative and Labour Party, which are of serious concern."

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/177407

Shai Masot was filmed covertly as he boasted about establishing several groups, at least one of which was intended to influence Labour party policy, while appearing to obscure their links to Israel.

The disclosure comes as Labour demanded the government launch an immediate inquiry into “improper interference in our democratic politics”. A former Tory government minister also called for an inquiry into the Israeli embassy’s links with two organisations, Conservative Friends of Israel (CFI) and Labour Friends of Israel (LFI).

Meanwhile, Masot is being sent back to Israel in disgrace, and a civil servant and Conservative official who was also filmed discussing ways to discredit MPs has resigned from her post.

Mordechai Vanunu ( also known as John Crossman), is an Israeli former nuclear technician and peace activist who, citing his opposition to weapons of mass destruction, revealed details of Israel's nuclear weapons program to the British press in 1986.
He was subsequently lured to Italy by a Mossad agent, where he was drugged and abducted by Israeli intelligence agents. He was transported to Israel and ultimately convicted in a trial that was held behind closed doors.

Vanunu spent 18 years in prison, including more than 11 in solitary confinement.

What a nasty corrupt country!

This is not a criticism of anyone's religion. This is the Labour Party asking for a public inquiry. If you support free speech and a democratic process, then do so without fear of being "demonised" by those that might call you an "anti-marmite", do not be verbally bullied by them. Do what you think is right for this country.

I do agree George. I think enough is enough. I don't want to see uk national interest become Israeli national interest like it is in the US with such a biased pro Israeli cabinet elected to Government. US foreign policy is now largely dictated by what's good for Israel. Eg Trump now looking to reneg on the Iran nuclear deal Obama made, simply because Netanyahu wants it.

I don't want any foreign country to try to subvert our democratic process and our UK national interest. I pay my taxes. I fully support the enquiry.

I think the bigger picture isn't to look at this and pick on Israel. The bigger and better picture is to say, no one and no foreign country, be it Israel, Russia or Saudi Arabia with its oil money, no one and nothing should be able to stand in the way of a free and fair democratic process in the UK, or subvert it for their own corrupt purposes. Not now, not ever. We fought WW2 for that sacred freedom. Do we now give it all up for those who would try to corrupt us? How many died in WW2 that would be ashamed of us today if we did?

Batezy, when you've got a foreign country trying to take down democracy in the UK, without soldiers on the ground and tanks and bombs, but by stealth, covert ops and spying, I think it's no yawning matter. People died to preserve our freedom today. What if they had slept and Hitler's army just marched on without opposition? Would we have democracy today?

Demonising one state over another, Corbyn and someone else I can think of has an obsession with Palestinians and their fake suffering - meanwhile Hamas still fire rockets at civilians every week and are 'hoping' for peace!

A few quotes can help us to understand just how unfortunate are the current misconceptions and misrepresentations of the reality in the Middle East.

On September 16, 2015, encouraging his people to carry out violent acts of terror against Israeli and other civilians, PA President Mahmoud Abbas said (on TV in Arabic): “We bless every drop of blood that has been spilled for Jerusalem, which is clean and pure blood, blood spilled for Allah…the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] is ours, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre is ours, and they have no right to defile them with their filthy feet.”

On October 14th, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said: There has been a massive increase in settlements…and there’s an increase in the violence because there’s this frustration.”

And on October 15th President Obama said: “…it’s important for both Prime Minister Netanyahu… and President Abbas… to try to tamp down rhetoric that may feed violence…”

There are three essential myths regarding the conflict in the Middle East, and it is belief in these myths which underlies the failure of so many attempts to achieve peace. It is madness when a leader who calls for his people to shed their blood and the blood of innocent civilians is called a moderate. It is madness when leaders of the free world cite frustration as an understandable reason for murder. And it is madness to ignore the Arabs’ responsibility for the perpetuation of the conflict and to hold Israel primarily answerable for the lack of peace in the region—given that precisely such attitudes and policies clearly lead to more of the same.

Wasn’t it Einstein who said that trying the same thing over and over while expecting different results is a definition of insanity?

Dave, you've just revealed yourself wholly and entirely as an apologist for Israel. Your attempt to bait and distract from the subject of this thread, the Petition, failed.

That's unfair, I said if Saudi Arabia, Iran, or any other country even Israel, tried to pervert our democracy, I'd go to war against them. This is no veiled threat. This is a black and white Petition, an entirely legal means, of protecting our political system from foreign corruption. Vote for it please.

I cant think of anyone I know who denies that during times of conflict when Israel is forced to respond to terrorism or war crimes perpetrated against them by the de facto government of Gaza, Hamas, Palestinians suffer and die. But then so do Israelis - Over half of the child population of Sderot and other Israeli towns suffer from PTSD as a result of the thousands of rockets that were fired indiscriminately at them by Hamas.

However your conflation of The Holocaust with the I/P conflict is antisemitic.

In just four years the German Nazi regime in a process that resembles the large-scale industrial slaughter of animals murdered 6 million innocent Jews including 1.5 million children.

In the entire history of the Israel/Palestinian conflict since 1948 - in over 69 years that included several wars against surrounding Arab nations, two intifadas, thousands of terrorist attacks and several retaliatory incursions by Israel - the total loss of life over 69 years stands at approximately 40,000 Arabs (including about 19,000 Palestinian Arabs) and 22,000 Israeli Jews.

Dave, you've just revealed yourself wholly and entirely as an apologist for Israel. Even when their spies are caught in the act, sent packing home trying to corrupt our political system, you choose to quote from an anti Islamic think tank which promotes the incitement of hatred for muslims eg lifted directly from

https://www.jewishpolicycenter.org/2016/12/29/myths-madness-middle-east/

Your attempt to bait and distract from the subject of this thread, the Petition, failed.

Next time give sources please and let us make up our own mind.

Where is you evidence that The Jewish Policy Center "promotes the incitement of hatred for Muslims"?

Can we stick to the topic pls. If you want to discuss Jewish policy centre bring it to Israel vs Palestine. This thread is about Israel trying to pervert British political democracy, and a petition supporting a government enquiry into it. Please vote yes. Thank you.

This is not a criticism of anyone's religion. This is the Labour Party asking for a public inquiry. If you support free speech and a democratic process, then do so without fear of being "demonised" by those that might call you an "anti-marmite", do not be verbally bullied by them. Do what you think is right for this country.

You're the one spewing your hatred of anyone and anything against Israel's perversion of Uk democracy. It's not just me. It's how many people have already signed that petition..is it 5000? It's about the an Israeli agent denounced by the Israeli embassy themselves and sent packing home. Why don't you take out your hatred on them? And before you do, please sign.
