insect identifier! pics uploaded!

Hi, I found an odd creature in my bedroom this morning and my kids and me want to find out what it is! I've googled like crazy but cant seem to find out what it is. Does anyone know of a site that helps you identify creatures please?

I could take a photo but I'm not sure how clear it would come out as at the moment its in an evian water bottle! also I don't know how to put pics on here :(
Its bright green with 6 legs
about an inch long
and has ear wig type pincers on its bottom!

nope that's not it either, it's body is long and thin, dead straight. could it be a little stick insect do you think? thanks again

You sure you're not getting the ends mixed up?


lol no its eyes are at the front and its pincers are the opposite end! its now curled its body up and looks like its chewing its bottom!! eeww

no, the pincers are like the 3rd one but the body is totally different.... my creature has knees lol. the legs are a lot longer, the body is straight and not in sections and it has long antenna things that poke straight ahead of it

no its body is thinner and it doesn't have back legs like that


think I may give up and wait for their dad to get home he can let it out and take a pic of it lol, I'm a wuss!

if its similar to the bush cricket picture.. its likely to be that, just a juvenile, or different species of the same family...

Are you sure it isn't an earwig? What are the difference between it and an earwig

The Oak Bush-cricket is nocturnal and usually not noticed during the day. At night it becomes active and is attracted to lights and so may be found in houses, on windows and under street and other bright lights.

It is rarely seen during the day but can often been found when beating shrubs and lower tree branches.

It is almost entirely carnivorous, feeding on smaller invertebrates.

Females can often be found on tree trunks looking for suitable egg-laying sites, during late evening.

The females lay their eggs in crevices in tree bark.

The eggs over winter and the nymphs emerge in June of the following year becoming adult in late July or August.

ah that explains it, our bedroom window was open. many thanks everyone... today I learnt what a bush cricket is and how to put pics on HUKD :)

they are weird creatures. i always think they look like grasshoppers with their wings pulled off.
