Insulation and heating improvements up to the value of £6,000

It is a Government-funded initiative.

If you own your own home or rent it from a private landlord, you may be eligible for a grant under the Warm Front Scheme of up to £6,000.

This includes insulation, central heating and boiler systems.

Warm Front Grants are for people who own their own home or rent it from a private landlord and are on certain benefits.
Is this a private company looking for work funded by governemnt grants? ...and yet again for people on benefits... Would be nice to find some help also for the working guy in the street who perhaps doesn't have the several thousand quid it takes to fit new heating and insulate everything.

it is getting a bit silly now. free laptops, free internet, free glasses, free dentistry, free housing, no council tax, free boilers and CH. I'm just waiting for the free energy & food government initiative :giggle:

The worker must have to earn quite a few bucks these days to make it worthwhile

I'm sure this is the name of initative that my local council are running. I work and have no benefits yet I have been assured that my loft insulation will only cost £49. My mom who is 65 (and still works and gets no benefits) will be entitled to loft and cavity wall insulation for free. This is in Sandwell. In fact I may post a deal later with the details if I can find the number and it is a different supplier. No mention of heating being free though.
I think it is time to not work as I'm sure I would be better off not doing so especially at the moment I am on maternity leave and expected to pay out £750 for a mortgage on £500 a month. I can't get any of the freebies as ' I earn too much'. Moan over...good deal for those who can get it

yes, the warm front scheme does heavily subsidise loft and wall insulation for everyone but not boilers & CH etc

Well as much as I am a supporter of a welfare state, there is also an argument that quite a few people on benefits in the longer term are not capable of getting a job with good earning power. There comes a point where you can be better off on benefit or at least make it less than worthwhile to go to work from a financial perspective, although I respect those that do go out of a sense of pride. It is true though that now there are many concessions and freebies. Everyone else is paying not only to subsidise all these schemes but often can't afford to pay for the stuff themselves...and same old story, but my parents are pensioners, both worked all their lives, saved and been modest, and because they have funds in the bank get very little as concessions apart from a bus pass and basic pension.

My council are doing nothing at all. They referred me to the government.

no because between you and your partner you earn to much mind £500 between the two of you would deffo entitle you to help

I checked out the grant for my mum, and had a quote for a new boiler from them, and seems to be a classic scam, say a boiler costs 2k fitted, Warm front will charge 4K.

After my research and reading a number of horror stories about dangerous and incompetent installs, I paid a non warm front company for a new boiler.
