Insurance scam or what ?

My daughters just popped over the see my wife.

On the way she stopped at a set of traffic lights with a zebra crossing about 50 feet from it.
She'd stopped just on the zebra so she reversed off it (no cars behind her), and as she started to move back a woman leapt off the kerb into the back of her car ! Ran round it with her camera phone taking pic's (so not hurt) and then ran off despite my daughter asking if she was ok ???

What to you reckon? A trumped up insurance claim in a week or so ?

Police weren't called so she can't prove it.

I could go outside and take a photo of anyone's car.

Just flat out deny it!!

Could be worth seeing if there is a shop right next to where she stopped. might be all on CCTV. Ask the shopkeeper to keep the tape/recording for the day.

Definitely bizarre! I'd be inclined to inform the police, incase she claims you didn't stop in the event of an accident (failing to stop is an offence). Say exactly what happened, and that you've not got a problem, but it was all a bit weird, and you just want it on record incase something happens further down the line.

Weird.

PS: Did you get a witness? Maybe someone else saw her odd behaviour...

Too late to go back for witness's now. It was out side a DSS building, no camera's.

I was thinking it could some idiot trying it on with those 'If you've had an accident in the last 5 years that wasn't your fault' company's ?

read the op several times and it dont make sense

she stopped at traffic lights 50 ft away from a zebra crossing but ended up parked on the zebra crossing......why did she stop on the crossing exactly if there was no one there?
#9
Do you mean she stopped on the zebra crossing so this person went round the back of the car and your daughter then reversed over her ?.

Maybe the OP means there was a traffic light, and then a line of cars waiting, and then a Zebra Crossing?

2 sets of lights. The one's 50 feet away are at a junction. She ended up on the zebra when the car in front left a huge gap between it and the one in front of it (if you follow).
By the time the woman had finished running round the car the line of traffic had moved off...

She checked behind her and saw the woman on the kerb, revered, and she jumped behind the car. She wasn't even on the crossing that was in front of the car !

i was thinking also it didnt make sense why did she stop? and then reverse if no one was there anyway?
was she parking illegally?
#13
She was stopped on the edge of the zebra, so she thought she'd do the right thing and get off it ! Never again..

i would give the police a quick call and let them know what happened just incase something pops up weeks later

She's on the way to the local station now and going to report it.

I've spoken to the local info line and they advise to report it also in case the woman tries it on later...

Thanks for all the input people...

i dont think reporting it is really the way to go, admitting you were breaking the law in the first place?

I don't know. She knew it was wrong to stop on the zebra and when she couldn't clear it by going forward the only option she had was to go back...

Obviously it's not something I'd condone, but if it came down to it, and it was me in the frame, I'd 'imagine' my husband/neighbour/boss/friend was a car or two behind me at the lights and saw the whole thing.

OP, dont panic, your daughters were obviously caught up in the filming of the new series of trigger happy tv

just leave it........make sure she doesnt stop on a zebra crossing again as it is an offence which is most probably what the person was making a point of

thats dishonest and really not advisable and the potential of getting caught out is extremely high
