In the year 1981,

1. Prince Charles got married.
2. Liverpool crowned soccer Champions of Europe.
3. Australia lost the Ashes tournament.
4. Pope John Paul II was shot.

In the year 2005,

1. Prince Charles got married.
2. Liverpool crowned soccer Champions of Europe.
3. Australia lost the Ashes tournament.
4. The Pope died.

Lesson learned? The next time Charles gets married, someone warn the Pope!

I've seen this joke elsewhere... it's totally incorrect!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_paul_ii

John Paul II was pope from October 1978 to Easter 2005. I'm not sure hwere 1981 came into this...

Also, Liverpool won the 'European Super Cup' in 1977, 2001, 2005 according th the Liverpool F.C. wikipedia entry.

EDIT: Oh, it's the 'UEFA Champions' comptition, I'll give you that - 1981...

:? Sorry for ruining it, but it's just not funny if it's not true. :P
