Currently using IE 8 on Windows Vista.

Is it worth upgrading it to IE 9?

I think everyone is missing a big point here...

Vista? Get rid of that for a start, W7 FTW.

At home I have two PCs running Vista and one running W7 and to be honest I can go from one to the other and hardly notice a difference.

I think this "Vista is bad" mantra is from when it first came out. They have had many fixes since it came out and it is now a fine stable operating system.

I have no problem iwth it.

Ive been using Vista for 3 years and its been great.
Dont see the point in forking out for windows 7 and wouldnt take a chance with it from the torrent sites incase it made a complete mess of my pc

i swap between firefox, opera, chrome and IE9.

firefox is a bit old hat for me now.

opera is my main browser.

chrome ok.

ie9 fine i suppose but it always comes up with a "stopped working" dialogue box when i close it. not a big deal as i am obviously closing it at that stage but still annoying to have to click several times to clear the dialogue boxes.

Did they not do tests with Vista & Windows 7 & concluded that Vista was a Memory hog even after all the so called bugs/glitches where supposed to be fixed.

i find firefox is more ram intensive. if i were you i would change OS before i change IE

lol at people saying spend £50-£80 changing OS rather than trying a free browser upgrade

I barely notice any difference between vista or w7 either

certainly wasnt worth the upgrade fee I paid.

ff old hat? In what way is Opera so superior then?

Although I do agree that firefox < 4 was a ram hog, ff4 is infinitely better than 3.

I've been running IE9 on W7 for a while now, I like it. Runs faster than IE8, like that you can pull tabs out to create a new IE session, and you can drop them back into another IE session.

The only thing I don't like is that they have removed the built in search bar, dunno why?

just my opinion - i tend to prefer the style of opera on the whole. plus when i use my old "sitting in front of the tv browsing" laptop, opera seems faster and better than FF. i like the clean interface on IE9 but, all in all, I prefer opera. main bug with chrome is that backspace button doesn't go back a page (unless they've altered it)
