Interview today.... feel ill!.... I GOT THE JOB!!

Decided to apply for my dream nursing job at a hospice. My interview is today and I feel so nervous and sick, never felt as bad as this for a interview before. Can't even talk properly, been trying to answer some questions that I think they may ask and its all coming out in gobblygoop!!

Can anyone help me with questions they may ask to help me prepare myself?

Thanks!

Vodka - in moderation - always helps me before an interview. Easier said than done I know, just relax.

A couple of questions I always loved (and seemed to get) both classics - 'Tell me about yourself' (with an uncomfortable silence) and 'why do you want this job ?'

Thats what my mum said go and have a drink!! lol If only!

I did wonder about those questions but the second one was in my application so who knows. Never sure how to answer the tell me about your self one. Maybe something along the lines of I have a total of 4 years nursing experience etc etc.

That's pretty much what I've done in the past (apart from the Nursing experience, which would be a bit surreal in my line of work) - use it as an excuse to work bits of experience in (between the odd brief mention of hobbies/outside work interests) - that you have and you know they want into the conversation.

It's also good to add stuff like - do you do xyz here, cause ...

Anyway good luck !

Sometmes they ask what have you done that makes you proud..or..what have you done that you would have done differently. These are tricky to answer on the spot so perhaps you could think beforehand of something to say in response. I think that if you feel it is your dream job you'll be fine because you'll appear so enthusiastic about it.
I always find slow breathing helps if I'm nervous - think breathe stress out and breathing calm in.
Best of luck...

I can assure you I am not. Much to my dismay. After so long of trying and staying in my job just incase we have decided that I can't stay in my current job forever and will hold back trying for 6 -12 months if I do get the Job. Thanks for the good luck.

Well I am back! Wasn't as painfull as expected. I did waffle a bit and talked too fast though and could of kicked my self! But think I answered all the questions, just hope everyone else was worse than me! Its a new unit so they will be requiring a few members of staff so that helps a little.

Definitely - it really does take a very special person to do a job like that. All the best to you Shelley and you should be really proud of yourself for being offered this post.

Thanks both, I do nurse some end of life care patients at the moment, but as we have other patients too we don't have time to give the care to the patients that need it. The hospice will have plenty of staff and I will be able to give the care to the patients that they deserve. I am overwhelmed that they thought that I am good enough to do the Job, I love nursing and I finally feel I can do my job properly.
