Tips on how to identify a fake online shop

  • Check for spelling and grammar mistakes. These can be a real red flag! Many (but not all) fraudsters operate from non-English speaking countries and therefore the website may not have been translated very well. Read the home page and ‘about’ section to see how it reads.

  • Check the website has a ‘contact us’ page. Reputable websites always offer a way for customers to get in touch with them by email and usually give an address and phone number too. If these are missing, or if the ‘contact us’ page is just an email address, beware!

  • Look for 'terms and conditions' and a privacy policy. Real companies will have sections to explain the purchase agreements and the distribution of your data.

  • Check the returns policy. There will always be a returns policy in place for trustworthy companies. If the website is missing this then it’s probably fake.

  • Read reviews on the website carefully. Are they all very recent? Are they all written in a similar style? This means the reviews may well be fake.

  • Does the website have a trust mark? Trust marks are used to indicate that the website has been verified as authentic BUT their logo on a website doesn’t mean that it necessarily has. If it is real, you should be able to click on the logo which will take you to the landing page for the website. If in any doubt, contact the trust mark company directly to ask.

  • Use a fake website checker. You can search to see who the owner of the website by putting in the domain name here. If it doesn’t look right then avoid like the plague.

I ordered a handbag for 35 dollars and my card was charged twice-once for 38 dollars and once for an "international fee" of 1.15 dollars. Then the website started to send me emails to pay for the item. They will not ship until I pay. But I did pay and the money came out of my account so I have to deal with my card company to get reimbursed. The reimbursement will take up to 45 days....please stay away from Ioffer. they are a scam site with horrible customer service. When you try to "contact them" you get a physical snail mail address and all of their automated emails contain no information about who to contact (no reply).

You got ripped off by purchasing a copy bag thats rips off the original company.

Site is 100% Real, they use Paypal, mostly Chinese sellers selling fake items, sellers are genuine, just use the same sense you would with ebay, check feedback etc.

To confirm though ioffer.com is 100% legit, most items are fakes, for example people should know that you cant by a 10k watch for 50 quid

I have been trying to open a seller account for over 3 weeks and all I get are automated responses. They open my account then close it the next day because they say I need to verify it. So I try to and they just direct me to a contact customer service page! They just send you in circles. I've been a member of ebay and amazon for several years and for some reason this small website that lets people sell illegal drugs like mdpv has made it impossible to start an honest account.

If you buy something from a chinese seller for example on Amazon, it arrives and its fake. You don't turn round and say Amazon is fake...

Perfectly legit site, anyone saying otherwise is an idiot.

However, that doesn't mean that stuff sold on the site is always legit.

Plenty of good products on there, not everyone is looking for cheap knockoffs..

I worked in a testing lab for a few years and you'd be surprised that brands such as Ted Baker, Mulberry, Burberry, Radley, DKNY, Dr Martins etc ALL get there items from china but then assembled in another country therefore making it "made in Italy" etc but really it comes from the same factory that New Look, Primark and H&M come from. That is the truth i swear - sorry to disappoint you guys but effectively the Chinese are still making a profit on the branded stuff because the cost is much lower and we're talking pence here folks. So genuine parts but not genuinely assembled together???

Only difference is that some ebay sellers buy from ioffer and then sell as genuine, the Chinese sellers never claim that their goods are authentic, well very rarely anyway. I have seen people on ioffer ask if an automatic watch that costs 10k in the shops wether or not it is authentic even though it is advertised for $60 lol, these people do exist

Some of the dodgiest sites out there accept paypal so not seeing your logic there, on the other hand 'most' safe sites DON'T accept PP. Crazy world innit?

I've personally used this item and bought a belt it came within the time frame I wasn't hit with any custom fees. I received it 2 days ago. I recommend using a fee free card when proceeding payment as it shows up in gbp but they charge in USD. just check seller ratings and item sold. I used the seller 'Excellentselling00' who has been great he sent me the correct item in the correct colour and size. It's exactly like ebay, all about feedback!

Great website for the knock off Nigels, the next (worse) thing to fleabay for counterfeit goods.

Don't take all the seller's feedback scores a gospel as most are imported from other sites like ebay.

3 times I've asked on this site whether dvd boxset Upstairs Downstairs is Uk compatible - the most useful comment I've got back is that (1) it's new and (2) it's in English.!!!! Anyone know of (or have an opinion on) this item - my guess would be that its a copy !!
  21. deleted776690's avatar
The site is a complete breeding ground for knocked off counterfeit goods. If you look at their copyright protection and legal information, it tells you all you need to know in terms of that they are totally aware that traders are selling counterfeit goods and are happy to let them continue.

I have just porchased a pair of white converse off this website and had no idea that most of the items are fake. I paid £15 so it's not that much off compared to a rolex for £50 etc... Does anyone think that they will be fake and if so what are the chances of getting a refund if they sell me a fake item without stating this on the page?

    thanks.
  24. deleted409647's avatar
you wont get a refund for your converse.
I'm guessing you paid via PayPal and they didn't mention anything about Converse in the invoice?
You won't really have a leg to stand on with PayPal in my opinion as they would need you to send them back recorded delivery which would cost more than £15.

DO NOT BUY FROM IOFFER! They have fraudelent sellers! I bought a watch from them and they had a payment twice. I have been trying to contact the seller and they don't reply. I have asked for a refund an iOffer have told me that it's nothing to do with them and you have to contact the seller direct. Well thats all well and good if they reply. They were quick to take my money now they won't give it back. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! THY ARE A FRAUD!

You should get your goods. I ordered some pairs of ray-bans for a fancy dress party and they are very similar to the real thing. One pair was damaged however so the seller sent me a replacement. Delivery took about 10 days.

I've brought several Dvd boxsets of tv series that have never been released for sale before including seasons 5 onwards of Happy Days and some western tv sets and all have been fine. I have never had any problems with them.
These box sets are usually recorded off the tv when they first aired and have never been released for retail for various licensing reasons.
I recommend Ioffer to anyone who collects dvds and rare tv shows.

I've never had any problems from buying from this site. We all know that the stuff is snide ! But as long as you are aware of that it's all good!
The quality of the merchandise is very good, you can buy a Versace tee shirt for less than you'll pay for a normal tee shirt! Wouldn't want to send anything back though, it'll cost you bundles in the long run. Always ask the seller if he/she recommends a size up for you because Asian large is usually the equivalent of English Extra Large

On average how long does it take for the items to be delivered? Do they come from the USA? I am aware they are not legit but for the price of some things, its only the same as buying it from the black market when you go to turkey?
  34. deleted154899's avatar
i cant believe some people buy from there thinking it's all genuine product. I saw a girl moaning on the feedback a few weeks ago that her 11 MAC lipsticks for £15 weren't real... you don't say

Yes but only things like watches and bags. Quality varies and they tend to use photos of the real product in their listing and not their own photo so don't expect them to look as good as they say

What's the point i knowingly buying knock off stuff? Surely your lives aren't that empty that you need to fill the void with fake designer clobber to show off to others?
