hi are ipad 3g sim locked to networks?

i have bought one off ebay. the gentleman says he used it on orange but it was a gift and he doesnt know if it was from orange or elsewhere.

are they locked or unlocked?

i would like to use the t-mobile data micro sim as its the best value, but would this work on an orange 'locked' ipad?

From what I've researched they are unlocked.

I have a normal sim from a tmobile contract I dont use, thinking of trimming it down (you can trim a normal sim down with a scissors to make it a micro sim) and using the 1GB allowance in an iPad.
brilliant. thats what im hoping for. goin instore get a free t-mob micro sim, pay £10 to top it up and get 12 months data.
How much did u pay for the ipad if u dont mind me asking?
Are t-mobile offering free data now on PAYG? What's the allowance?
Whats the deal with the "free" t-mobile micro sims? I looked online but they dont t offer them with free data
my ipad 3g was locked
my ipad was unlocked as i thought it was locked to orange but it takes an o2 and t=mob micro sim!

the t-mobile deal is:

Get 100 minutes free & 12 months free internet worth £40*

Top up £10 each month and get 100 free anytime minutes to
UK mobiles and landlines to use the next month.

Buy an iPhone 4 micro-SIM for £5, and load it with £10 credit at the same time.

Now obv this is for an iphone 4. the manager a t-mob said acitvate the sim in an iphone 4 then put it in ur ipad and your away!
Problem is my iPhone 4 is locked to 3. I've been using the hotspot function with my iPad but it kills the battery on my phone so want to get a sim for the limited on the go browsing I do with the iPad
as what i am doing you need to find someone witha t-mob iphone 4, activate the sim in their phone and then put it in your ipad and your away, this make sense?
Yeah. But no tmobile iPhone handy. Dammit.
