I have a 3G Iphone which already runs cydia applications etc but I think the phone might be locked to O2 as when I put a Manx sim card in it does not recognise it - I have read some articles re yellow…

I have a 3G Iphone which already runs cydia applications etc but I think the phone might be locked to O2 as when I put a Manx sim card in it does not recognise it - I have read some articles re yellowsn0w etc but my software version is 2.2.1 (5H11) which i believe will not allow yellosnow to work - is this correct ?

Depends how old your phone is, if it was made before Oct 2008, you can use Fuzzy from Cydia to downgrade your baseband then use yellowsn0w to sim unlock.

It it's since Oct 2008 you're stuffed, nothing you can do

only way around is to but one of those rebel sim things

rebel sims don't allow full function on new iphones as far as I'm aware, they used to work fine but i don't think they play ball on new OS

Sometimes I hate the Iphone :( I want to stick with o2 but just use a Manx pay as you go sim card whilst at the TT as the roaming charges whilst over there are very expensive

Yeah it is a pain in the bum for a lot or people, gooogle around, a rebel sim may well work for simple tasks like phone / sms but i think you run into problems when using itunes/app store or general data
