iPhone 3GS 3.1.2 Tethered Jailbreak problem...

Everytime I jailbreak it, It goes to the connect to itunes screen?
I don't want to restore it using itunes because it will update it to 3.1.3 meaning it won't be jailbreakable!
I've blackra1ned it soo many times but it still goes past the geohot screen (which stays for a long time about 2-3 minutes) then it starts up and goes to the connect to itunes screen?

Any ideas?

you can choose what to restore it to

Try doing a fresh restore to 3.1.2 via itunes again.
Download the firmware from here if you dont have it already and use shift+restore(windows) to force itunes to allow you to select the path for the firmware file (cmd+restore on mac)

This doesn't work anymore.

Apple have stopped verifying 3.1.2 firmware

Must be 3GS only then as I have done a few iPhone 3G's recently..even running 3.1.3 by downgrading the modem firmware using fuzzyband (via cydia)

It's a nightmare Met-Cast - I've looked for ages on the net for a fix for this - can't find one that works :(
Have you tried to see if O2 will legally unlock it for you??

Yes but you can still do it if you saved your shsh's with cydia to saurik's server.
Instead of verifying with apple you can get it to verify with a server on your own computer which sends the correct ecid shsh back to the iphone.

Believe me, I have done this quite a few times recently to various 3gs's with a tethered jb

Win 7
and Yeah I did. :-(

The Windows 7 is the problem, you might need to find an XP machine somewhere and do it.
Try it in compatibility mode maybe.

Right click on the irecovery.exe file, and go properties. Then on the compatibility tab tick the "run this program....." and select Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Apply and OK it, and then go back into your command prompt and try it again.

Tried that the problem seems to be with winUSB 'cause I don't get a list of usbs, I just get 1 line that's it!

If your iphone was running 3.1.2, you can still restore to 3.1.2. I've done it on several 3gs' now. You just can't downgrade once it's on 3.1.3.

You've done it. But have you done it recently?
I've tried. Apple do not verify 3.1.2 any more.
