my iphone 3gs with the latest version 4.01 keeps on crashing every so often. I have just under 2 months of warranty left. I have restored it and everything but still the same problem. If i take it back to apple will they give me a new one? Also when they check for the diagnose will the crashing come up? becaue if it doesnt they wont give me another one. As i said the crash happens maybe once or twice every day or every 2 days.

They'll probably replace it. Book a Genius appointment.

But what if the crash report does not appear in their diagnosis? Then what will they do?

I'm sure you'll be fine, reports of OS4 crashing 3GS's are on a number of sites, they must be aware of the problem by now.

Just to say, they won't give you a new one as such, they'll give you a referb of the same model. I just had to take my wifes in, they have stock of every model in their stock room.

will the crash be on their diagnosis which they check to see any problems?

If it is crashing they will pick up on it, so many people will try and scam them to try and get a refurb, if you have a genuine problem it will show up and they will sort it for you

IF it has been crashing it will 100% show up with their software. If it hasn't as it sounds they will tell you to get going.

Just plan to cross that bridge when (if) you come to it. Apple cs are excellent imo, you have nothing to worry about?

What do you mean by just plan to cross that bridge? Can anyone give me any tips on what to do if the problem does not show up on the problem checking daigosis? And has anyone experienced it?

I never knew. Do you think apple will replace even if the problems do not appear on their system? Can anyone give me any tips on what to do? And has anyone experienced it?

4.0.1 is NOT beta - it is live for all users to use. 4.1 is on Beta 3 as i am on it and fixes a few issues.

I was at the Apple store on Sat to replace my old 3g phone which has been out of warranty since Feb. Got it exchanged for a new one as it had the no wifi issue.

You will be fine - all issues are logged in the diag log which is not visible to end sure only to Apple - thats why they connect your phone to their mac :)

U will be ok - just ensure that you tell them exactly what has been occuring and you will be fine - end of the day you are still within your warranty period

Just MAKE sure that you do a full backup of the device before you go to them - connect to itunes find your device on the left - right click it and do a backup.
