iPhone 3GS - Barred - Can It Be Unlcoked To Use Again?

To cut a long story short, the phone is not stolen but my sister in law has split from her boyfriend and he has had the phone barred cos he pays the contract.

Can this phone now be unlocked to be used or sold on without any problems.

Please let me know.

Also if that's poss and anyone is interested in making offers on this phone then let me know and I can always add into the For Sale/Trade forum. FYI, it's a Black 3GS, 8gb, currently locked to o2 and in excellent condition as has had a case and screen protector from day 1.

Many thanks in advance.

Think you can sell barred phones abroad.
#2
not legally.

the bay seem to have a few listed, is the phone in your sister in laws name, or her ex's. As he could always report it stolen.
You should have no worries about getting rid of this phone abroad.

It's in his name, I think he has maybe reported it stolen, which is why it is now barred - the ****!!!

Suppose I could always sell it as broken on eBay, to use as parts only, there's a few going for over a hundred quid at present.

cant really blame him if its in his name. Some1 may buy it from you to send abroad tho (you can get the emi number changed so it works again but it is illegal)

Fair enough. Maybe best to sell as broken, spares only. That's sounds like the simplest option.

i heard people can unlocked them abroad so best to sell abroad

Either take it abroad, or just sell it on fleabay and put "no signal fault" in the subtitle and say in the description (may work abroad). Everyone will know what your on about.
#10
Why would they block it if it was easy to undo.
#11
Yea can be unlocked if it's not 4.01 but it will stlil be blacklisted on all on UK networks

here's your answer...

no
#13
do you have everything with it, box, accessories. i will offer £60.
#14
If it's barred then it's blacklisted - can't be unbarred and can't use in uk.
However, if you sell it to outside of uk, it will work perfectly.

Good luck with the phone! :)

Tbh, they sell the phone only on eBay for over £100 with phone only when listed as faulty. Call it £100 and we could have a deal. Will be phone only (I think).

Putting no signal fault would be lying. Also I believe the block list is eu wide. And finally if he reported it stolen then you are selling on stolen goods.
#17
Don't sell it on ebay, A) It is a stolen handset B) Imagine if you sell this handset to someone who is going to repair it then gets to find out that it is blacklisted....Roll Police call & a Paypal charge back all without getting the goods back. Plus as DCX states the ban would be Europe wide.

Tell her to give it back to it's owner.

The ones on eBay going for spare will be ones with faults such as faulty connector, earpiece, proximity sensor etc which can be repaired and the phone can be used again

Your phone is barred and cannot be repaired for use in the uk so you will not get as much as these listings

You also should be clear that it is barred not "faulty"

By the way you can't sell the phone in this thread

Thread closed. OP is more than an info request, deemed to be inviting offers.

Just for info. This phone cannot be listed within the trading forums regardless of 7 days passing or not.
