try Settings/General/Reset/Reset Network Settings

That's from my 3G, might be diff on 3Gs. It normally cures any signal issue I have suffered

Sorry I don't have a 3Gs on hand to view where the menu item is, it may be something like

Settings>General>Network>Reset network Settings?

Doing this will turn the screen off, it should then buzz & turn back on, at which point it will ask for Sim Card pin if u have one setup

contract or PAYG??

Is on O2 ? If it was JB'd and running on another network you've just locked it back to O2.

Have you tested the sim in another phone just in case it's that that's gone down.

sim is working fine in another phone

? Strange. . .

Try upgrading it again in case something hasn't loaded correctly. I can't think of anything else?

one more attempt

Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data scroll down and reset settings

Hope this is the right menu & it helps you out :-)

if you tried to reset the phone and no avail, just book a appointment at the apple store if they cant get it working they might just give u another one.

it said we have the most recent version already

As has already been said, I think you need to take it to an Apple store so they can run diagnostics on it. Looks like you've tried everything that might get it going...
