Hi,
Was wondering if someone can clear something up for me.
If I get a iPhone 3gs pay as you go and want to use it on my vodafone contract which has unlimited web and wifi. If I get the iPhone jailbroken and unlocked can I then use the web etc under my vodafone contract and download apps, use iTunes etc?
I have just upgraded to a htc magic, not opended yet but as I love my ipod touch so much I'm thinking of selling them both and paying extra for the iPhone and just using my new vodafone contract......... Just wanted to check the iPhone will work fine especially usig the Internet wifi etc before I take the leap!
Any help or advice much appriciated.
Thanks inadvance

Thanks for the speedy reply.

Now I just need to decide do I stick with the htc magic and ipod touch or do I go for the iPhone (probably the 3gs)
Can't decide so any opinions would be great (on the above subject that is not just random opinions!);-)
Thanks

If what I'm reading correctly, of what you've said.

You seem to be under the impression you can use O2's Web and Wifi for 12 months freebie with a Vodafone sim card in. This can not happen.
The O2 Web and Wifi is on an O2 Sim card. You take the sim card out, you lose the freebie. It's either stay on the O2 Pay and go, or try and get a cheap bundle for internet access with Vodafone.

In Simple words - You cannot have the o2 Web and Wifi with a Vodafone Sim Card in the iPhone 3G S.

I will be using my vodafone contract which has unlimted web usage on it. Someone said this can be done so now wondering if it is worth selling my htc magic and iPod touch to get a iPhone 3gs?

Ahh You can use it.

It's probably worth it the 3G S is great.

I got confused because I didn't think vodafone had 'web and wifi' cause they don't have Wifi spots around the country like O2?

I don't think they do, but they have 3g or something so you can connect to the Internet anywhere I think? :?
I'm leaning more towards the iPhone as I love my iPod touch but can't deciede if I should open the htc magic and have a play then choose.....but then I get less when I sell it.
Think I might sleep on it and if I still can't decide just toss a coin!:?

I'm also on Voda (altho my current contract has no web so will look to take the extra fiver per month until i renegotiate my contract) and am also looking at the 3GS. Are you thinking of buying new and going via quidco on the apple site for the payg??
#9
I'm not sure, I might look into swapping my htc and iPod plus cash withsome or sell it and then prob buy from apple. I might even keep the htc for a bit. It has good reviews so then I have 2 gadgets to play with!!

I think you'll find that Vodafone's "unlimited" web access has a fair usage limit of 500mb / month

Like captain hook said 500mb isnt a lot so if your going to be downloading apps do it on wifi.

A bit cumbersome but when it comes to downloading apps, i was gonna use the O2 sim that comes with the PAYG iphone. then swap over the o2 sim for the voda one. when my voda cotract is up I'll prob go with o2.

But has anyone used one of the ghost dual sim things in the iphone, so you can use 2 sim cards? I've started to have a look round the net and aware that you can't select what sim to answer a call but usig this must be easier than keep swapping the sim cards all the time??

I looked into everything and decided to keep my htc magic and ipod touch in the end!!
Maybe get a iphone next time............or swap if i get bored but the magic is a neat little phone, not as slick as the ipod but some really good apps on there.............and using my touch for the music.
