open blackra1n on your computer with your iphone in,and press make it rain (again) an should skip past it.happens to me all the time

Mine does too, White 3gs had two and both did it. I believe this Is how blackra1n is with 3gs right?
#3
Is it because you have tethered jailbreak? I assumed currently on the 3gs you can't have an untethered jailbreak hence having to restore everytime your battey dies or you reboot.

Yes mate I did some research and that seems it it's tethered I think :? which means you need to open blackra1n after every reboot its VERY annoying too.

Yeah so did my 3gs 16gig but not the 32gig i think it's because the latest made 3gs models that have that problem with blackra1n as my previous one did not have this problem

You have an updated Bootloader on ur device/ ur model No. starts with MC. same issue with my self, you will not lose ur jailbreak but tethered jailbreak means that if you switch off or reboot ur phone it will go into recovery mode and u'll need to connect to your PC and run blackra1n again.

It can be a bit annoying but we can live with it. especially with all those free apps.

Thats because its one of th earlier versions of the 3gs - all new ones will do what the ops is doing until a fix is found

If you look at the serial number, digits 4 and 5 are the week it was produced, if this number is below 40(i think) then it should be ok, if above then it will be tethered jailbreak

You can check by seeing if the model number on the box starts with MC.
There is also another way of checking but forgot at this moment in time need to check

I have a few general questions about jailbreaking using Blackra1n.
Can I restore phone back to "normal" if I decide I don't want it jailbroken?
Do you still sync the phone through i-tunes?
Can you still get apps through the i-Tunes store?
Where do you get apps from if not from i-Store?
Does it actually invalidate the warranty?
It's for a 8GB 3G i-Phone.
Thanks in advance.

Mine is a 3gs (bought in auguest 09)
model is: Mc131b
firmware is: 04.26.08
still on v.3.0.1 (not updated to new software yet)

does this mean mine is the early version and I can use blackra!n for Unthethered jailbreak?

Don't know about the MC thing but I always go by the serial number - what are your 4th and 5th digit?

Aug 09 should be fine - my bro purchased one in about OCT and his was ok.

Yes to all apart from the last one,
If something goes wrong with your Jailbroken device all you gotta do is restore it and its back like you bought it so that will not invailidate ur warranty.
But if you have Unlocked your phone there is a chance your phone has gone out of warranty as the unlocked changes the 'bandbase' of the phone.
