iPhone 4 help

I have just got the iphone and noticed that when I double tap the home button for multitasking, that all the apps I have used since I got it are in there.

Does this mean that every app that I have closed, has actually still been running in the background and will therefore use the battery up?

If so, Is there a way to close the apps without them going into the multitask option?

Thanks

individually - you simply touch swipe to the right to see the row of app icons. Now, simply touch and hold down the icon of the app you wish to close for a few seconds. The icons will then begin to shake, as they used to on the Home screen when deleting apps. In this case, there is also a red “-” symbol displayed at the top, left-hand corner of the icon. Tapping the “-” sign will immediately close the app.

Thanks, have you noticed it uses some of your battery up if you have quite a few open?

From what I have read, some stay 'open' and use power even though you are not using them. most are just listed as ones you have opened recently, so don't use any power. compared to my gf's 3gs my 4 gets a lot more time between charges :)

You could also jailbreak the phone and download sbsettings from cydia, this works like windows ctrl, alt, delete in which you can easily end processes. When installed just swipe the clock at the top of the screen and hit processes. simple.

Only jailbreak if your on firmware version 4.0.1 or below. Google jailbreakme from your phone you don't even need a computer. :)

Silver, have you any idea where I can find the toggle (for sbs) to disable rotation on 4.0.1? I could always find it on Cydia before I updated but can't see it now :( need it, because rotation does my was in!
