Thinking of buying one of these in the next few days..just wondering which one you guys think is better and why?

Currently swayed towards iphone because of the app store compared with android marketplace..but it is a hefty £500 sim free from apple..currently using a £10 nokia so either phone will seem amazing!

I love my iphone 4. Everything is amazing and the app store is alot better.. I just hate all the other touch screens on any other phone as i dont think there as responsive. :L

BS im afraid, the desire is as, if not more responsive than the Iphone4 Ive just compared them side by side.

No one can tell you which is better. Go into a store and try them out for yourself.

You get a lot more freedom with the desire as to what it looks like and how it works.
Of course the app store is better on the iphone, its been around longer than android systems.

But in the majority of cases the good apps are either:

On android
Coming to android
or have a similar app to the same standard available.

I cant help but think of anyone who owns an Ipod or an Ipod touch as a lazy sheep. There are much better alternatives to both available.

However as said this is my opinion. You need to go to a store to try them each out, but that being said, i know none of my friends who have gone from android to iphone (some have switched to blackberry) but plenty who have gone from iphone to android (mainly the desire)

Yes you can. Memory is upgradable.
and if you are that way inclined you never have to pay for an app, you can download and install.

Theres nothing an iphone can do a desire cant do (apart from sync with itunes..zzzz)
plenty that a desire can do that an iphone cant.

but as ive said before PLEASE go and try them out instore before deciding,

thanks for both replys jetpac, will definitely be going to try both of them out before deciding :) i really like the 7 screens to scroll through on the desire and the fact widgets can be added to them (and also the fact the desire can be got for quite a bit cheaper.)

You can have as many as you like.
The good thing about android is that you can alter it with apps to work pretty much however you want.

Personally i only have 4 screens. i also use things like locale that change the phone settings based on times of day, location etc.

I also think it looks a lot better and also has the plus side as you have said of being cheaper.

Have a read if this it may help you with you decision making, however you can't truly make a decision until you try them both in-store :)

Ok so i've got a lot of friends that have the desire (I personally have the legend). I love having an android phone and I pay just £18 a month (due to having another contract at vodaphone). You're are right the market on android isn't as good as apples, but honestly the novelty of getting every app were's off and im down to using about 5 apps regularly...
HTC desires have a pretty low battery life and if you're not careful wont even last the day.
Personally if you want the wow factor buy an iphone...
If you want to save money got for an android phone (there are some good alternatives to the desire that have most of the same features)

As someone who has bought loads of phones in the past years, when the iPhone came out I stuck with it, and it is in my opinion one of the best items of technology ever made. Absolutely love it. Go and try them, I bet you will come home with the iPhone!!

tbh i prefer the desire over the iphone 4..just wondering now if anyone knows the best sim free/unlocked price for the desire?

Not too keen on the desire HD as the screen is too big for me.

I was unimpressed with the iPhone4. Problem is just the screen - it's just too small and unaccurate. It means that for any dense are of links (like, basically, everywhere) requires you to zoom pretty close before you can click, which is a pain in the ****. It's because you've got to use your fingertip rather than your fingernail, due to the nature of the capacative screen, and I think it's rubbish.
