iphone 4 = signal strength = disapointment

recieved my iphone 4 payg handset on Thursday. Was a bit of an impulse buy however I had saved up for it for sometime.

Unfortunately the signal was only 1 bar throughout my house, where as normally have 5 bars in all my other o2 phones. so disappointed, I did'nt even bother going through all the other features. If I can't even hold a call in my own house.. I might as well get an itouch.

Decided to send it back to Apple and get the X10 Mini Pro, and hold out for Apple to sort.

Anyone else had similar problems? anyone else sent one back? I think for £499 it should be something amazing :(

I knew there were problems.. but not to the extent I'm having.

Another question... is signal affected by what your phone runs on? eg 3g, 2g.. or should the signal strength show the same as my sons £10 samsung phone on o2??

The signal strength bar isn't a very good guide to signal strength as its entirely dependant on the phones software interpretation of what strength=what bar. The 3G and 2G signals will be on different transmitters so will not be the same, although if the 3G signal is too weak to hold a call any phone should switch to a stronger 2G signal where it exists.

"it was an impulse buy which I saved up for some time" oO

How can you buy something on impulse that you've been saving up for some time for?

My iPhone 4 is fine on the signal strength by the way

Mine is fine and is indeed something special.

Have you updated? iOS 4.1 should have addressed any issues but tbh I never had any.

fixed

I have a similar problem but I can make calls, I have never had a call drop. Whenever I am at London the signal increases a lot, I get a full signal but where I live the most I'll get is 3 bars.

My Iphone 4 broke :( went without a phone for three days and now I have another one :)

are you sure your counting it properly, as going by your equation in the title your maths is poor

My issue with the iPhone is that bluetooth doesn't work and refuses to find anything. Trying to synch up an earpiece but it refuses. Taking it to the Apple store next weekend so I don't die on the motorway talking.

Also, the loudspeaker is crap.

The phone is not worth £500 and I would be sorely tempted to return it and get my cash back.

Since the os 4 update i really havent noticed anything now

The signal bar lies on Apple phones I'm sure of it, on my 3g's it will say I've got signal then not let me phone etc.

Swap hands bro. Should solve the pins and needles as well as confuse you about who did what!

iPhones are pants. Im so glad mine is now just a car sat nav device.

How about they were saving up for a while to buy something, then on an impulse decided to buy an iphone?

not had any problem with signal strength, certainly never dropped a call, and the 3G signal strength is noticably better, its very rare that I cant get a 3G signal even in places I couldnt get one with my 3Gs
