Iphone 6 battery fail

lumsdot Avatar
2y, 6m agoPosted 2 years, 6 months ago
Mac rumours is possibly showing a picture of the new iPhone 6 battery, just 1810 mah capacity.
So has apple failed at the first hurdle, i.e. the 4.5 inch £100 Moto g has a 2080 mah battery.
Do you really want a thin phone that may not last a days use

It will be just fine.

No doubt that smaller chips will use less power

Ok iphone6 may have low power consumption, but i bet the phone will be thin at the expense of battery life, android phones of this screen size tend to be in the 2500 to 3000 mah battery range

Yeah but Apple phones are actually the most power efficient there are out of all of the manufactures. Look at their usage vs their battery sizes and you will see. Its not all about size.

There is more to the phone than battery life and it shows that the 5s is outselling the newer Samsung S5: http://www.tuaw.com/2014/07/17/8-month-old-iphone-5s-outselling-samsungs-flagship-galaxy-s5/?ncid=rss_truncated

And if Apple get this off the ground then other phones don't stand a chance against the iPhone: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/apple-secretly-researching-fuel-cell-technology-improved-iphone-battery-performance-1456768

Yes they are power efficient, but apple does not take advantage of this fact.
Apple could easily put in a bigger battery , similar in size to other phones, and then you would have a killer battery life feature , a 2 day battery life beating all other phones.
This would justify the high price of the iphones.
But nope all they care about is thinness

Steve Jobs took that philosophy to its logical conclusion. Didn't work out well for him.

The iPhone 4s is still one of the best phones around, I use it heavily for email, messaging, music player, and it lasts more than the whole day, much more than I can say about most Android phones.

Apple know exactly what they are doing, better antennas, better CPU, better IOS, better battery saving software.

For blind devotion to apple products.
How is the 4s one of the best phones around,
Can name about 5 android phones that wipe the floor with it.
As for the iphone6 battery they have decreased the thickness from 3mm to 2mm to make the phone thinner
. but in doing so will have decreased battery life by a third. Madness

I praised the iPhone 4s, I don't own any other Apple product, nor would I, since they are overpriced. Stop throwing around baseless accusations just because I praised an Apple product.

You are going to name 5 phones that came out this year or last year, I'm talking about a phone that came out in 2011 (4 years ago) + had 'only' a 1432 mA·h battery, and still holds up to smartphones released to this day, which goes to show how well IOS is compared to Android (Kitkat has improved Android vastly)

Apple could half the iPhone battery and I still will have faith that the iPhone 6 will last the whole day, because Apple will not release a phone that lasts 6 hours and dies, that need to innovate now, and they won't do something as foolish.

EDIT:

Even the iPhone 5S has a 1560 mA·h and lasts more than a full day, so Apple are upping the power of the Li-Po battery and you call it a 'fail'

Decreased battery by a third of what? Some imaginary figure in your head? It's 16% larger than the 5S battery and the components will use less electricity meaning an improvement in battery life.

You attack people for their "blind devotion to Apple products" when you yourself blindly attack them.

Apple don't know what they are doing, its taken them three years to get to a screen size users asked for i.e 4.6 inch
If the new battery rumour is correct the iphone6 will still just last a day, due to bigger screen consumption.
I bet the iphone 7 will have a bigger battery, when apple finally listen to its users.
Android phones are using 2500 to 3500 mah batteries and lasting upto 2 days, and they don't look overly fat

Iphone 5 battery is 3mm, as the iphone 6 has a bigger screen, the case has more room for a bigger battery i.e. Length and height, so if the thickness was kept at 3mm you would be looking at about 2500 mah fitting into the iphone 6 case.
Read link above, they are having problems making a battery so thin at 2mm, if rumours are true.

And? If you need the extra juice then get a battery pack/case.

You're trying to make this look worse than it is. Battery life is certainly important but you're making it out to be the absolute pivotal feature of a phone when in reality it is just one of a vast number of things you have to consider. Besides it's not even been launched or even announced yet!

But yeah, you're right. Apple don't know what they're doing. Shame they haven't got old lumsdot of HUKD to guide them... Apple are surely doomed.....

iPad 4th gen: 11560 mah
iPad Air: 8820 mah

OMGZ 25% LESS BATTERY LIFE! APPLE DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING FML!!!

Oh wait the battery life is exactly the same on both models due to more efficient components.

Whole day? Try a Moto G, 4-5 days on one full charge. Also a previous iPhone 4 (not S) user.
There's no need to belittle Android or IOS when you have barely any knowledge on the products.

Well that's true if you compare it to other 2011 android phones.

Look, for fair tests then you need to compare similar sized phones from around the same original manufacturing date. Everything you've mentioned so far is spread across four years which is four lifetimes in terms of mobiles.

Music for an hour to work and back, regularly on Whatsapp, checking my emails around 3-6 times a day, facebook/twitter browsing now and then, never game much, do watch youtube videos etc. All at around 40% brightness, and my phone is usually on silent most of the day due to work and me forgetting to put it back on loud. I hit around 7% by the 4th day most of the time, which can last a whole extra day if I turn all comms off.

Look, for fair tests then you need to compare similar sized phones from around the same original manufacturing date. Everything you've mentioned so far is spread across four years which is four lifetimes in terms of mobiles.

2 more hours than the 'current gen beloved' 5S.
Goodbye.

Aah right so not a real world test used there then, but a web script.

I'm not disputing that it's got a good battery life, I'm just saying it's not massively different to anything else out there. If you're getting 4/5 days then I'd say with the same use an iPhone 5S would get you 3/4 days.

I can't really speculate on the 6 as I have no idea what they're planning, although I can say with almost complete certainty that it will have a better battery life than the 5S.

You also have to consider that the Moto G is almost twice the physical size of the 5S (99300 mm3 vs 55135 mm3, and a rumored size of 59150 mm3 for the iPhone 6)

It's a budget phone all round, but a good one. It shows through on certain aspects too, like the camera, benchmarks etc. On the battery life and price it has the upper hand, on all other things though the 5S beats it.

The iPhone 4s is still one of the best phones around, I use it heavily for email, messaging, music player, and it lasts more than the whole day, much more than I can say about most Android phones.

Apple know exactly what they are doing, better antennas, better CPU, better IOS, better battery saving software.

Whole day? Try a Moto G, 4-5 days on one full charge. Also a previous iPhone 4 (not S) user.
There's no need to belittle Android or IOS when you have barely any knowledge on the products.

4/5 days of heavy usage? Post a screenshot of the battery usage :{ Also i think anyone can get 4/5 days of battery life if you hardly use the phone regardless of what phone it is.

I had a moto g and it would last about a day with heavy usage, roughly the same as my iPhone 5S currently, maybe got an hour extra on the moto g but nowhere near the 5 days you claim lol.

4/5 days lol

do you ever use your phone?

Music for an hour to work and back, regularly on Whatsapp, checking my emails around 3-6 times a day, facebook/twitter browsing now and then, never game much, do watch youtube videos etc. All at around 40% brightness, and my phone is usually on silent most of the day due to work and me forgetting to put it back on loud. I hit around 7% by the 4th day most of the time, which can last a whole extra day if I turn all comms off.
My GF has a moto G and barely uses it but still has to charge it daily. I think you may have the elusive magic battery scientists have been looking for ;)

Sorry. I just caught back up with this thread. I am sitting here in stitches at the blind devotion. You said "BETTER ANTENNAS". I do remember not to long ago about the issue with the Iphone 4 antenna and when you held it in a certain way "Apples advice" it would work.

I am not nor will i ever be an apple fan. The prices of apple products are just ridiculous. Look at apples net worth. Over 100billion dollars now. Greed. Sheer greed. But to each their own, and the iphone 6, then 7 then 8 and so on.

Sounds like you're biased against the brand just because it's Apple which is a shame, because you're missing out on some really great products.
