iPhone - can I buy a PAYG and use a T-mobile SIM?

I am looking to get an iPhone 3GS. I'm currently on T-Mobile using their PAYG with free texts and internet.

ATM, T-Mobile don't issue iPhone's but I wonder if it's possible if I buy one then the SIM from T-Mobile will work? Or will the iPhone be feature restricted?

Any help/advice greatfully received. Many thanks in advance.

Not if it's already on 3.1.3 with the new bootrom you can't, which any new phone will be.
You'll have to wait for OS4 to come out in a few weeks and wait for the new jailbreak/unlock combo.

not all stock will have the newer bootrom and if it doesnt then it can be downgraded and broken

also as i said it depends where you buy 1 from........ if you buy o2 you can pay and have it unlocked £15 worth of credit you need i think

you could buy one on o2 pay and go
theyre £450
pay £15 to get if officially unlocked with o2

LOL! It all gets quite confusing then, downgrading etc... but thanks for letting me know it *is* an option.
So, potentially, £465 looks like my preferred option via O2. Anyone know if Tesco is the same? I thought I read they used the O2 network, thus iPhone for £424 then maybe +£15 +clubcard points!

And aside of the above, the T-mobile SIM should work with it's free texts and (more importantly for me) free internet leaving my £10pm topup untouched?

Many thanks to all for help, have repped you for it!
