Help needed for someone who hasn't got a clue ie ME.
My daughter would like an iphone. At the moment she is on O2 PAYG ordinary mobile. I've been looking on ebay as I don't want to pay a huge amount and am confused as to what you need to make it work! I would like to surprise her so can't ask her.
Is apple iphone the same as iphone? PAYG - do you have to pay so much each month or what do you do? Have seen free email and internet access for 12 months - whats that all about? Does it connect via your own broadband connection at home? How does it connect out and about? God I feel old and useless :>(

If you want an IPHONE at the moment they are only on o2, but this is set to change come december when Orange and Vodafone get hold of them. An Iphone is made by Apple, so all Iphones are Apple Iphones. To buy them unlocked - ie to no network, and will work with any sim card you put in it, will cost a fair bit. If you were buying off Ebay, you'd need one either dedicated to o2 or unlocked so your daughter can use her current SIM. Alternatively, to save a big lump outlay, you could get her a contract and she'd get the phone either free or for a discounted price, but this would mean you pay per month. The best thing would be to wait til December when there is more competition and the prices drop. If you are adamant that you want to get one now from ebay, I think they go up to 32gb and look for the 3GS which is the latest model. There are so many techy forums that will be able to advise you. Don't rush in.

Hi, right I will try and help you out so here goes, the apple iphone is the same as the iphone however make sure that the phone you are buying is a genuine apple one and not a fake as there are a few around, secondly if you daughter is already on O2 pay as you go then she will be fine the sim card will work no probs, the phone has wifi built in so if you or your daughter has wifi/wireless router at home then she will be able to connect to the internet for free just be wary of data costs if using the internet on the phone whilst out and about as this can be costly and could eat up all of your daughters credit, over all the iphone is fantastic and if you decide to get one im sure that your daughter will love it, message me if you require any further help

So many questions ! Lol here goes if it's 3g then it connects anywhere in the uk that it can get reception if not it uses the slower non 3g connection . If you are within range of a wi fi point it will use that so at home you can connect through your home Internet as for the sim card you should be able to get one from an o2 shop for a small fee or it may have one with it already Internet is free for 12 months then after that you have to top up so much each month I think or buy a bolt on for Internet I'm currently on a special offer of 15 quid unlimited txts and free Internet the usual other offers apply ie free unlimited texts 10 top up a month and 15 for unlimited txts and o2 to 02 calls remember for the first year you'd only need to top up 10 for unlimited txts and Internet is free I just typed this on my phone via my Internet ;-) hope all that helps !!!!

If you get a payg iPhone sim it includes 12 months free internet so it's worth switching to an iphone simcard.
