Ok, so all you folks are posting madly on the CPW/o2 price drop of the iphone, but what do you do with your new shiny piece of kit if you don't actually have an o2 contract? Aside from unlocking it, i've been looking at what you could do.

e2save seem to be one of the more reliable cashback places plus they are backed by CPW. So, i've been looking at what they have.

Nokia 6300 in black, 200 mins, 200 texts, £30/month - 12 month contract
You can either take the chance with cashback and pay a projected £1.99/month or go £10/month but get £240 AUTO cashback plus i am sure you can get quidco too for taking out the contract

12 months, 200 texts and minutes that's £120 for the year, minus any quidco, minus whatever you could get for the 6300 too

Stick the sim in your new shiny i-phone and surely that is one of the best deals you'd get contract wise? Perhaps not, but it has to be a slightly left-field way to look at it......

Can I just ask a question, if I order an iPhone am I not bound to an 18 month contract costing at least £35 a month?

But to get the best out of the iphone, you need to be able to use the internet, if your on the move and not near a Wi-Fi hotspot then it costs you a fortune in data, unless you can find a good plan where you can get a decent data bundle included.

Looking at the HUGE thread that is the official one, seems you do not have to enter a contract, no.
Seems the contract starts when you connect/register iTunes.
I don't have one, nor want one, but seems you can avoid the contract :)

Now then stranger :) Yeah, that's probably true, didn't think of that, sorry :-(
Was just trying to think of a way folks could "use" it from the box as it were......drawing board, where for art thou

Nope, you buy the phone outright - its only when you connect the phone to Itunes when you choose your tarrif - you can bypass that and just jailbreak it and stick a different sim in.

I think I would tend to agree, I think the benefit of an iphone contract is the fact that you get unlimited access to the net.

Dont get me wrong there are plenty of apps out there that dont require being connected to the web, but ultimatly you have to download them through the phone (ok you can be within a wi-fi hotspot - which I'd reccomend because some of the files are huge!)

I suppose its what you want the phone for.... do you wanna be the poser with the iphone or are you using it practically? personally for me it works out cheaper than having mobile broadband.

Anyway fella not seen you around here for a while (prob not lookin in the right places) not been doing armed raids in nationwide have ya?

No no not at all, i didn't fully think it thru or appreciate the uses of the phone. I was just looking at a quick way of using it on o2 for the folks who don't wanna unlock it, but seems knowledge is power :) As for the poser aspect lol, not me, went from from an O2 XDA Exec to a Nokia 6070 lol :) Mind, i am on 3 :)

I know, it's becoming a crimewave around here, be scared to be posing around with an iPhone in my hand

That's exactly what I've done other than the 6300 offer was for the full 12 months cashback back over the year.

Paying £30 a month, bolt on for unlimited web access (200 MB FUP) at £7.50 and selling my free Nokia handset for approx £70 as they come unlocked. Plus selling my previous iPod nano for approx £50 which means I'm pretty close to covering the cost I paid for the iPhone.
