iPhone PAYG Official UK Pricing for 8GB & 16GB versions.

Hi all,

I've just been on the Stuff website and they have what a lot of people have been waiting for and that's the official pricing for the 8gb and 16gb 3G iPhones....

8GB 3G iPhone = £370

16GB 3G iPhone = £470

BIG OUCH!!!!

This is what the Stuff site had to say about it....

Weve just been tipped by an inside source about the payasyougo pricing plans for the iPhone 3G.

The 8GB model is set to cost a massive £370, with the 16GB model clocking in at £470. That means you could be paying up to £200 more than the final price of the original iPhone, which came in at £170. The new figures tally with the Italian fees, announced two weeks ago, starting at 499 and rising to 569.

It is not yet clear whether this will include any minutes or text bundles. However, if you want to hack your new iPhone to run on any network, it certainly wont come cheap.

An O2 spokesman has just told us, "We have no update on pricing for PAYG iPhone at this time. We will let you know more about this when we can." While youre waiting for official confirmation, be sure to check out our iPhone 3G Bible for the full skinny on what to expect come 11 July.

Hope someone finds this info of some use...

No Ive been saving for the 3G version! My current iPhone will go on sale on eBay soon as well!

I have an o2 simplicity plan so don't wanna take out a £45 2year contract just to get it for free!

Errrrrr!!!

I really wanted the 8gb version. I thought it was going to cost £180 at the most. I am really annoyed!

Isn't it about that for the old non-3G version? This is the more expensive 3G PAYG prices.

just to add, though these prices may be right.. the FINAL price of the original iPhone wasn't 170, that was only a DEAL price from o2 and CPW, apple still sold them @ 270 as that was the RRP of the 8GB
#12
well i did pay £385 for the first iphone before released in u.k and i got that a lil cheaper then the going rate so id say this is fair. I wont buy this though untill its out and reviewed.

True but thats what people were doing buying the £169 iirc from CPW then unlocking them to put any SIM in technically making it £169 PAYG v1 iPhone (for those that don't mind hacking their phone of course) :whistling:

But they managed to buy that avoiding the contract. They have already said you will need to sign the contract before leaving the shop this time!
#17
People have to remember this is for pay as you go! You can get it free or £100 on contract!

I paid £280 for my iPhone from USA on day one and I had to wait for it to get hacked!
There is no hacking involved this way.. I buy put in my o2 sim and go!

This was never going to be cheap on PAYG! People who were hoping for £180- had to be kidding themselves!

And now you will have to sign the contract before you leave the store so no more buying it, taking it home and unlocking it! Apple have wised up!
#18
yep, free on a 40 quid contract, (480 after 12 months if you're lucky enough to get a 12 and not forced into an 18)

100 if on a 30 quid contract (360 + 100 = 460 after 12 month contract...)

They've wised up alright, and I think this has made me make the decision to keep my sealed 8GB one i have.. Opening time tonight!!!!!
#19
I think it is 18months only.. Well o2 website says so.

Best of all, the new 8GB iPhone won't cost you a penny on our £45 and £75 tariffs. And it's just £99 on our £35 tariff and new £30 tariff.

If you'd prefer the 16GB version, it's free on our £75 tariff. Then you'll just pay £59 with the £45 tariff and £159 on our £30 and £35 tariffs.

All tariffs include unlimited browsing on your iPhone, unlimited Wi-Fi access, visual voicemail and reduced roaming rates with our International Traveller Service and are subject to a minimum term contract of 18 months.

You wont be able to put any old O2 sim card in there.
#21
Its not pay as you go then is it?

Im sure it will only accept o2 sim cards. Explain why I wont be able to put my o2 simplicity sim card in there?

Whoopeee! £1800 For 18 months! Are people really that dumb?

And the OP said "An O2 spokesman has just told us, "We have no update on pricing for PAYG iPhone at this time. We will let you know more about this when we can.""

So those prices dont sound like its for PAYG as you have suggested.
#23
16GB iPod Touch = About £230 right?

You think Apple would sell the 16GB iPhone for anything less than that?

These prices are rough estimates from other places in Europe who have had the PAYG iPhone announced and price set. These are a good estimate i recon.

thats not quite right,

The 16GB is completely free on a contract thats £75 quid a month for 18 months, thats only costing you 1350 for that period, not bad really!!! :? LOL

might hold out until the inevitable 32gb version of the iphone which will probably be the same price as the 16gb when it comes out
#27
So much for the mass market - hardly going to make a dent in the mobile market.

All the hype of the £100 IPhone - poor marketing - I'll sell you a £5000 Ferrari with another £100k over the next two years.

lol nah they usually take the "current" prices down a notch when they bump the specs

as much as i want it i would be gutted if i bought the 16gb now and then 4 months down the line the 32gb one came out for the same price

flash is getting maaad cheap maad quickly

esp at these prices i rly wouldnt want to buy another one for a looooong time

It will only work with the Sim Card it comes with (until someone hacks it).

Same as the original iPhone, you couldn't just put any old 02 sim card in it.
