1) Download itunes from apple.com/uk
2) Plug Iphone to computer
3) When Itunes asks you to do an upgrade for the iphone **CLICK NO AND CHECK THE 'DO NOT ASK ME THIS AGAIN' BOX
4) Add music/video/games/podcasts to Itunes either from your collection or buy from the store
5) Select iphone and press the 'Synch' button.

You may need to fiddle with the settings on Itunes a bit and the synch settings on the iphone menu on itunes but the only thing that will 'brick' your iphone is updating your iphone via itunes to a version that is not supported by your unlocking software. Ideally you need to find out what software version your running, but at the moment Ziphone will unlock all Iphones up to and including the latest 1.14 update.

IMO if your running anything lower than 1.14 you should unlock using Ziphone to 1.14 because there are some good new features and it is **** easy. Google 'ziphone' or visit hackintosh forums for details.

I should warn you that when a new update comes out Itunes will again ask you to perform the update. your best option with an unlocked phone is to click no and await the latest unlocking software for that update which normally only takes a matter of weeks.

If you do end up bricking the phone, not to worry there are fixes availible - I managed to brick mine twice in the early days but now have the same phone unlocked to 1.14.

ritchie how did you brike yours and how easy is it to fix??

Bricked it by performing an update in the wrong sequence (whilst drunk lol).

Fixed it by re-virginising to set everything back to out of the box settings, also re-flashed the baseband back to factory standard - although I've since heard this was not neccesary and then simply updated to 1.14 and used Ziphone.

I hear that a program called iplus is now out which is supposedly superior to ziphone - might be worth checking out.

Second time I bricked it I did pretty much the same thing whilst being way too cocky thinking I knew how to do things and stopped following th guide I was using.

This is slightly off topic but i'm trying to install itunes but it won't let me as it says i haven't got service pack 2 installed on pc.

i recently gave my computer to a friend to reinstall everything (coz im hopeless at these things) and it looks as if he has split the hard drive into 'c' and 'd', but 'c' has only got 7mb and the rest is allocated to 'd'. So when i try to install SP2 it says not enough space on 'c'. :x

Is there any way of allocating more memory to 'c' or to install SP2 on 'd'.

yes there is a way, you need to resize your C partition, - to do this you need to find a partition program, such can include partition magic, PartitionExpert see here for more details, as far as i remember there are free programs to do this but i cant remember them, quick Google search should prove to be helpful.

see here : http://www.theeldergeek.com/hard_drives_05.htm

Oh by the way the reason your hard drives are all over the shop is because reinstalling windows has now reformatted your drive in the wrong partition size... easy mistake but can be rectified

Hope this helps
