meh thats what the husband is for....but seriously its not a cae of just being able to afford it.....but also a case of value for money! im not being weird but i know quite a few iphone owners and they arent that amazingly well off..... currently we are doing ok but when i went to look at contracts on the iphone i was quite shocked at how much a month most of my friends are paying, esp when i know a few of them are in debt as well!

it is expensive dimebars....compared to other phones on the market.

Seems to be a fashion accessory/status symbol for some poor people to own an iPhone rather than affordability MB.

I'd put it down to clever advertising, a lot of people wouldn't think twice about alternative products and are buying into the trend.

You've worded your question wrong........ You really meant why are people to gullible.....

Apple products are rubbish and overpriced. The iphone is just a small ipad with the ability to make calls. Also, the 27" iMac is just a small 30" dell monitor and PC.

They market their products well, but they also offer great user experience.

If they didn't then sales wouldn't continue to grow.

If you ask people who have bought an Apple laptop, they'll probably be aware that in terms of components then they are paying more.

But it's about the user experience over the course of a couple of years.

That BBC show by the wannabe Louis Theroux just repeated the idea that it's a cult or a religion. It's just marketing.

Can do this with everything. Why get a Golf when a Skoda is cheaper and made by the same company, why get a Samsung TV when a Technika has Samsung LCD technology inside, why get a £500 suit when you can go to Next.

The difference with the above is that there really isnt a difference, where as with macs and pc's, one runs windows/linux, the other runs mac osx, and thats what you pay for. Good or bad you pay for it somewhere and with macs the software sells the hardware. It just so happens they make the software cheap but the hardware expensive, the PC has for years done the opposite.

Exactly.

I have an iPhone 4, before that an iPhone 3GS. More urgent needs at the mo though, so I doubt I'll get an iPhone 5. Also I have an iPad (that I won), and won't be getting an iPad 2.

I'd love a Macbook Pro with Lion, but thats not gonna happen either - as my current PC does a fine job on its own for now.

Not sure why Apple get picked on so much when companies like Sony, far deserving of this kind of discussion, get off lightly.

I've had top of the range Android phones and they just can't compete. You buy an iPhone for the whole experience, using it as an iPod and for the great apps. Yeah Android is good if you want to put a quick dial shortcut on your homepage, or something equally as exciting as that. And yeah, some other phones have better spec but that hardly matters when there's no decent apps to take advantage of it.

Unless its a mod, everytime someone tells me what to do, I add a day extra before I take it down.

Steve, Steve........... Is that really you Steve?

PS do you have an app to stream from a home media server?

The best app on an iPhone is cydia, the second is sky sports (jailbroken with tv out via hdmi 720p sky sports) and thirdly installous. Totally tweak the UI, all the apps and with an experience better than android and ios (stock) and sky sports only £8 a month. Also the screen does it for me and iTunes U.

I quite like Apple guys, I am not a fan boy though. I am on my second iphone 4, my first got stole, I bought a Blackberry thinking I wouldn’t miss the iphone but I did so bought a new 4 in white, come on now it is not all about marketing. Products are good. I have an ipad also that has been abducted by the kids, keeps them occupied when we are out for dinner etc.

I have a Sony wireless music system at home which is designed for the ipod/iphone, come home at night, stick my phone in, let it charge while playing some tunes round the house, I know this is not new technology but it I love the simplicity of it all, all the apple products I have I get good use out of them and this is important.

Isn't the user experience the primary factor in assessing a piece of consumer technology?

No, its the ability to go against the grain, buy a **** phone then spend the remainder of your contract defending it against the best phone in the world - the iPhone.

If you have 2 kidneys theres no reason you can't sell one to buy an apple product

do these things not usually cost an arm and a leg

I'd say the primary factor is that it works properly. The iPhone 4 didn't seem to manage that initially - I wonder how that user experience panned out for those who had to endure it after forking out a fortune.

It's more your use of a corporate phrase that I was poking fun at - cringeworthy stuff.
