Hi,

I quite fancy getting at ipod classic & someone has offered me a 2nd hand black 30gig colour screen one for £50 with no headphones or data cable is this any good, it sounds a bit high to me but I've never had an ipod before so don't really know much about how much they are worth?

cheers,
worto.

for that cheap price my bet is they have run down the battery, or the player has problems also sounds like a 5G or 5.5G and not the player officialy dubbed as 'Classic' (6G)

I bought an 80Gb Classic on ebay and it has a much better interface and battery life to the older players, having said that the player lacks midrange and sounds a little flat even when the midrange is adjusted - if you really care about sound quality go with a Creative

I work in the same office as him so I don't think he'd sell it me with a shoddy battery in it, so your saying £50 is cheap then for that player as long as it's not stuffed.

Do you know how much the data cables are seperately and can I plug any headphones in or do I need magic expansive apple ones?

I'd like the ipod cuz most of my mates have them so it'll go in the docking stations they already have.

You can plug any headphones in, no problem.
Cables are cheap, obviously the official ones are more expensive, but shouldn't set you back more than a couple of quid - max 7. Available on the highstreet at Currys, Game, Zavvi. Also available online.
Sounds like he has an ipod photo or ipod video and sounds like a good price.
Ipods are great!

brill thanks for the info guys,

one more :-o

have the connections changed much from this one to the new ones? Just wondering if it's likely to fit into my mates docking stations or are they really fussy?

Thanks & sorry for all the questions one at a time, it's just as they come to me!

docking stations like mine come with all the different pieces to fit-but the ipod classic fits the same contacts as my nano so i think mostly the same(except shuffle!)

Thats the 5.5G not the most recent Anodised Aluminium iPod which comes in 80Gb or 160Gb.

Data Cable from poundland (which charges obviously as well)
Headphones, well the Apple ones are pretty pants anyways so go your own way with them.

£50 is cheapish, although bare in mind you can get an 80GB for around the £100 mark and its much better, battery life and brightness.

Hi - thanks for that - £100 for the better one - I take it you are still talking about a 2nd hand one?

I'm not really fussed about the extra storage 30gig is fine but better battery life & brightness would be good and the extra storage a bonus. I think I need to have a look around & see what deals I can get a new one for then decide if it's worth the price diference compared to the £50 one I've been offered.

Cheers all.

No Nooo. I think the cheapest I have seen an iPod Classic 80GB is about £109 on Flea-bay from reputable sellers.

Item No. 220258837585 This is an Apple Refurb. that this company seems to have bought up.

Thats a good price, snap it up. The videos have a good screen, and you'll be able to play the movies you want, zavvi had headphones for a pound the other day, cable will be cheap, just make sure he removes his music , so if/when you sync with your itunes , you will not lose yours.

Ebuyer are punting the refurb 80g classics for £123 all in. Plus i asked them about warranty and they said its 12 months which unlike others is only 1 month.
